I haven't found any solution for the adds either Night Train.  If I clean out my browser they show up.  I have to clean out my browser if I want to rate skins.  I then like you have to login to both WC home page and again separately in the WC Forums page.  I will then have relentless ads until they seem to go away on their own.

FF3 is the worst for it.  Can't rate skins and never are all ads eliminated.

IE7 can rate skins but, only if the browser has been recently 100% purged.  Ads will show up for a few hours and then end on their own.  Yuck!

What happens if you use FF3 with cleaned out cookies (after your first login I mean)?

I have only had the most random of issues but I have been able to rate.

I am unable to rate with FF3 no matter what I try.

Correction I just found one methos that allows me to rate using FF3.

1) Navigate to the library and skin I wish to rate.

2) Click on FF3 Tools and clear all cookies

3) Logoff WC will remain on same skin page

4) Login WC while still on same skin page

5) I will then be able to rate the skin with FF3.

Don't know this to be fact but I'm thinking the minor problems we are seeing are related to updates that are going on with the forums and then browsers coming out with updates at the same time.

I wonder if Andrew has any hair left or does he go around wearing a Baseball cap? :O

I apologize NT don't mean to post so much here, but

I have now discovered so long as I don't enter the WC forums with FF3 I can continue to rate skins with FF3.

Entering the WC Forums with FF3 breaks rating skins with FF3 and causes those relentless unstopable Google ads to return.

I asked the same question last week. Also have removed all cookies, etc. Was told that Stardock was aware of the problem and that is all I was told. No reason to log onto wincustomize and than go to the forum and have to log in again. Never had to do this before. By the way also can't change the desktop background on my site and was also advised they were aware of the issue. I totally understand with programs and computers things can change but I have been trying to change my desktop background on my site for 4 weeks. I hope you get the answer you are looking for so the rest of us can follow the instructions.

Despite the best helpful efforts and suggestions of our users the simple answer is that there isnt a solution to the login problem.

Now, your reaction might be something like this 8C but there's a reason. The wincustomize main site (www.wincustomize.com) and wincustomize personal sites (user.wincustomize.com) are old. They need love. Badly. Theyre also using a different login system than the new sites are. The new sites now include the forums. (All forums for any stardock site) The new login system is faster, more flexible and allows us to do some really cool stuff you guys wouldnt know was there unless we pointed it out.

An update to Wincustomize is coming post-GuiChamps. But as per usual I'm in no place to say exactly when. For the time being youll have to log in seperately to the forums and main site. There's no way to get around that. They should, however, keep your login data once youve been logged in to both. If its not, then your browser is eating cookies and needs a diet. Keep an eye on GUIC if you want a tech. preview of stuff forthcoming with the next iteration of WC though.

The ads are a completely different matter. They come and go and its at random and yeah, it's been a problem for a while. It's still on the todo list and the whole subsystem needs an overhaul. It's coming, just not sure exactly when.

editing doesn't work either but I am sure you know that.

Has anyone considered losing the ads until things are fixed? It would seem more fair for the subscribers. Just a suggestion. :)

- the problem is that these updates came at a price, I'm not the only one can't upload new contents (skins) to the site and I'm sure it has something to do with these updates as well.  Waiting till after GUIChamps is a long time IMHO to get a fix in place to restore the website's functionality.

upload.aspx doesn't work, neither does upload2.aspx using either ie6, ie7, ff3, chrome, etc.

If the new login is faster, it can't be by that much, I don't remember any huge latency issues when logging into the site previously before these updates.

Any chance on getting an interim basic upload page that works running on this site so that we can continue uploading skins?

Andrew thanks for the update, it may not fix the problem but getting an update on this issue as it stands does soothe the soul to a certain extent.

;)

The last time I got a successful upload was by cleaning out 100% on FF3 and going directly to the upload.aspx page.  That was last week though.

Guys, please try and remember that we're trying to keep the posts in the Forum Issues forum on topic and about the forums. There are a few posts in the Wincustomize Site Issues forum which are discussing the Upload problems. We won't be commenting about the upload pages or main wincustomize website (www.wincustomize.com) in Forum Issues, but we will be active in discussions about that, as we're able, in the Wincustomize Site Issues forum.

unclerob, nearly your entire reply was about wincustomize.com and not the forums :) I understand that the distinction between the two might be a little confusing, but keeping on topic will help us out a lot. Please try to watch that moving ahead.

And all, if I had like two or three more heads and a few more hands and enough hours in the day I would get everything up to speed and updated and running like a ficken top. The sad fact is that I was not blessed with these extra extremedies and I can only code so much, so fast. Hopefully it's comforting to know that nothing goes unnoticed.

Yes, that's been considered. Ads are a touchy subject here internally as they are within the community publicly. Unfortunately I dont have any more info to lend other than to say that it's been discussed in the past.
