State Coloring: Shades of green, instead of blue and red

States don't turn red or blue (or shades thereof) like in 2004?

http://www.uisgop.com

I'm sorry if this issue has already been discussed here; a cursory search did not reveal anything, though.

I was excited to see that there's a 2008 version of The Political Machine; I purchased it last week.  One thing I noticed however, is that, with this version, the states turn shades of green, based upon certain criteria (I am not even sure how that specifically works). In the 2004 version however, the states would conveniently turn shades of red, or shades of blue, based upon which candidate was leading in them.

It was very convenient and useful, because you could easily and quickly see, throughout the country, which states your candidate was solidly winning, and which states your opponent was solidly winning, and in which states each candidate had a slight lead.

Now, with only shades of green used, I have to click on each state, and see what the situation is, in it.  This slows down playing time significanly.

I am thinking that perhaps I have the map on the wrong setting, or something.  Please let me know if there is anyway to make the color shading red-ish and blue-ish again.  Thank you!!

There are a couple of things that might be causing the map to be green...

[1] The map view is set to "Awareness".  This is indicated by shades of green.  You can change it near the top right corner of the screen.  There will be a drop down menu to the left of the turn counter.  There you can change what is being displayed (Awareness of you per state, the number of Electoral Votes each state has, State Wealth, Popular Vote, etc..).

[2] Or you are playing the "Drengi" scenario.  In that particular scenario, the parties are "War Party" (red) and the "Imperial Party" (green).  The other scenarios, (Nations of Europa, American Civil War 1860, and Campaign 2008) use the standard blue and red colors, but the party names will be unique in each of them.

My guess is probably number [1].  But just in case I put number [2] up there.

Hope that helps,
