Trying to delete ship in a saved game

I am having a problem with trying to remove ships in a saved game

My problem is that I wanted to take a large sized ship and redo it as a huge ship without losing the design or the name at all, so I delete the large design in both ships and templates, but this does not seem to work. So far I have gone so far as to delete all ship files with the name "Imperial War Hawk" from all versions I have of GC2 but to no avail.

The main issue itself is that when I delete them within the saved game, I delete the large design and remake it as a huge ship with the same name aand design as I want it. But after a couple of turns or so, because the name of both the large and huge ships are the same, it somehow goes back to using the specs for the large sized ship and ignores the huge design altogether.

Like I said above any ship and template files with that ship's name have been deleted, but am I missing some files that could be saved elsewhere, and if that's not what is causing this, then could it be that the designs are being read from the saved game and thus, not able to be removed?

When you're playing from a saved game, ALL data, including ship designs, are loaded from and saved to that save. The game only reads in templates and such at game creation.

While I'd say the behavior you're seeing is a bug, what you're trying to do isn't actually supposed to work at all within a save. Now, if you want to do it in a new game, no problem--just make the huge ship, then edit the xml file and change it to use the other's .shipcfg.
