Modding and Demigod

A modder's request

I would like to request that, since you are not "officially" supporting mods in the retail release of Demigod, you at least keep the basic mod support that does exist in the game, at the moment, in. I understand that you cannot afford to spend time on a Mod Manager for demigod, but if you at least leave the mod support in the game engine I have a nice Mod Manager going here. Anyone interested in modding or using mods in Demigod could use that until you can release a patch that includes an official Mod Manager. I plan to keep it up to date up to and after release, so long as the game engine supports it.

Quick question...I have never been involved in a beta before so this is purely out of my own ignorance.  Is it a normal process to request modding considerations this early in the game? Sins is very mod friendly...is that because of early modder influence during the beta or is it better to discuss this kind of thing later?

It has been brought up now because of Brad's post about the lack of official mod support for retail release.

Supreme Commander had mod support during beta, however since i wasn't part of it i don't know at what point it came.

that said, GPG has let the Moho Engine grow and mature so it's perfectly reasonable to see a good amount of modability this early (after all, the Moho Engine was around for a looong while before Demigod).

GCFL, even though Stardock is publishing DG (god bless them for it) they are not making it. you really can't compare SOASE and DG as they were made by different developers.

back on topic; good job Sorian! it picked up Console++ straight away.

Understood...I was just using that as an example of a game that I know is highly moddable and wondered if early work on mod support during the beta process could have been the reason.  You guys answered my question...thanks much!

GPG is actually the one mostly making Demigod, and they made Supcom.........far better example than Sins.

I haven't seen another game with the amount of modding support and crazy modders Supcom has.
