RESOLVED: Help? Anti-aliasing - Problem with white spots (artifacts)

Hi,

When I enable anti-aliasing (any of the modes: non-masking, 2x, 4x), I see subtle but annoying white spots on moving 3D objects like ships.  It is really distracting - so much so that I don't even want to play with anti-aliasing on.  The white spots appear where the staircasing would have been if anti-aliasing was off.  They sort of just flicker in and out.

When I turn anti-aliasing off, the white spots disappear and all is well.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a way I can enable anti-aliasing without getting these artifacts/spots?

Here are my system specs:

- Windows XP

- Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (E6850) 3.00 GHz

- 2 GB RAM

- NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX Graphics Card

- Game and graphics card drivers are updated to latest (game: 1.05, graphics: 174.19)

I've tried messing with all the other graphics options in the game (resolution, bumping, etc), but nothing changes the fact I get these little white flickers when anti-aliasing is enabled.

Help would be most appreciated.

/J

I seem to have corrected the problem.

This is what I did:

  • Through NVIDIA control panel, I disabled "Antialiasing - Gamma Correction".  This nearly fixed all the white spot issues.
  • I also set my antialiasing to override the game's setting with x8Q.

The above two changes seem to get rid of all the white artifacts.

Hope this helps someone else ...
