OBJECT DOCK CRASHES IMMEDIATELY

Hi there,

I wished to try Objectdock so I downloded the free version to test and see if to get the plus version.

Unfortunately i have never managed to actually see the product since it crashes immediately with the message "Objectdock stopped working" than Vista looks for a solution which it doesn't find and terminates the task.

I have reinstalled it repeatedly, cleaned the registry, rebooted to no avail.

I still would like to actually see the product so any help is much appreciated.

I run VISTA SP1 on an Intel Duo T7300

Many thanks

Thresholds allthought I don't run Vista, I have not heard of it not running on it.  Besure you are running as admin or in admin mode or with admin privileges, how ever it is called.

I just checked the product page, are you running 64bit?  If so, that is the problem.

That's quite correct. The free version does not contain the fix for Vista 64bit. That is only incorporated into the current beta of the Plus version. Eventually that update will be available for the free version but not until the next version update to the Plus version. Sorry for the trouble.

Hello Guys,

Thank you for the quick replies.

I am on 32 Vista and always work as admin so those cannot be it.

Might it be conflicting with other applications maybe?

The only one I could think of and for my knowledge of PCs might be xneat manager(http://www.xneat.com/windows-manager/?ref=xneat_prog) and qttab (http://qttabbar.wikidot.com/) but could be anything really i guess.

Anyway I have never even glimpsed at the application so far.

I hear it is so good so please drop your suggestions :)

Many thanks

Thresholds not sure what xneat manager is but you are correct, it could be another program.

You might try closing what ever other customizeing prograams you might have and see if ObjectDock works.  If it does, than activate the programs one at a time to see when ObjectDock crashes.

Also don't ignore your anti virus programs or spyware programs.  Some folks have had problems with them interferring.

Good luck.

Wow you guys are quick in replying.

Anyway I thought that a crashing application had to leave a report in the event viewer so I found the culprit in PSDProtect.dll which is part of Acer Data Protection a sw specific to Acer notebooks.

So that is fixed and I can finally try the dock out :)

xneat allows u to drag items on the taskbar among other things while qttabbar allowas to have tabbed browsing in windows explorer: i recommend both if you don't like a messy, cluttered taskbar.

Thanks a lot for the help

Just as a follow up question. Did you have just the basic install with no extra downloaded docklets installed when you ran Object Dock? I just curious for doing follow ups on the software in the future.

It's the Acer Notebooks.  Somebody else (maybe a couple) posted about this also.  They had OD installed on an Acer Notebook and reported the same crashing problems.
