Trouble installing mods
Can't find the right path.
Can't find the right path.
I can't find the path for installing a mod, i go into c:\ and don't have a users folder. searched for a mods folder else where and can't find.
The C:\Users is only for Vista. For XP, it's in C:\Documents and Settings
And make sure you set it to view hidden files and folder through the folder options - view stuff.
thank you. once i turned on the view hidden files i found the application data and ironclad folders. now that i found them do i just open the files in to the ironclad folder or should there be another folder in the ironclad folder.
look for Sins of a Solar Empire/Mods.
i don't find that one. ironclad doesn't have any folders in it.
You have the Ironclad Games folder but it doesn't have anything in it? That's a new one on me.
Have you updated the game? Are you using the English version of the game? Try doing a file search.
I've tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling. when i did that application data folder didn't even have the ironclad folder. i then did the update and that didn't do anything. then i ran particle forge and saved a file that was already there and that's when the ironclad folder showed up and has particle forge in it. the only place that has a sins of a solar empire folder is in the c:\ program files\Stardock games.
never mind i finally found it. do i just download the files into the mods folder or is there something else that i need to do.
I had been looking in the application data folder under my user name instead of going to the one under local settings. i found that one after i followed your advice of doing a file search. thank you for your help
now that i found the folder i extracted the files for 7 deadly sins 1.3d into the folder and when i go into the game i don't find anything to view or activate the mods. the file directory is C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\7 deadly sins 1.3d\ game info, textures, mesh, etc. i've tried copying the original files into the folder and saving over them and deleting the files from the mods folder and reextracting them. not sure what else to do.
From the main menu of the game, go to Options - Mods.
You have the game patched to 1.05?
You are replacing Username with your logon for the computer?

i've done the update and have gone to the options menu and there is no mods button
I have the same issue:
Sins is updated to 1.05
I d/l'ed the & deadly sins mod to:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods
The "Mods" folder wasnt there. So I simply created it.
Inside the "Mods" folder is another folder named "7sins" which contains several folders (Gameinfo, Mesh, particle, etc.)
When I boot up & go to options > mods
nothings there ![]()
There's an option to check the mods directory path in the ingame menu & it's the pointing to the correct directory path
(C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods)
is there a piece to the puzzle that I'm missing here?
Any help would be really appreciaterd & Thanks in advance ![]()
Check the bottom right corner of the main menu. What does it say? (Just to be sure.)
Mods button should be like this:
djjimmyswift,
You're logging onto the computer as "Administrator"?
![]()
Yeah - thats the options screen & yes I just the default administrator account.
Thx.
Do you have any other account at all on the machine? I remember helping someone once who had the same problem. The fact that the Administrator path had no Mods folder means the game wouldn't know to find them, regardless of whether or not you created it. I think there's something weird with using this Admin account, because I remember the other person had the exact same issue.
If you do have another account, drop the mod there, but you may have to reinstall the game under that account to get the path set up, it worked for the other person when he put the mod in a user account path, not Administrator.
If it works for you, you should e-mail support@ironcladgames.com and let them know about this funkyness, there's no real reason I can think of why a default Administrator account wouldn't work.
To make sure you are working with the correct account just make a new text file on your desktop and name it something unique. then browse to that users desktop and make sure the text file is there. Now you know 100% your in the right account.
I have had a few problems with mods and getting them to work. I would like some help if anyone knows how to fix the issue I am having.
I have all the mods I wanted and it all shows in the mods tab in the game menu. But when I click Enable mod my computer freezes then makes 1 beep. I click Ctrl-alt-delete and when I get to desktop I see a pop up saying Mini-Dump.
Does anyone here have any Idea what trouble I have been having or what to do to fix it? The game works fine for me but its just the mod thing when I use it I get dumped. I have tried rebooting but it has no effect on the problem.
Mini Dump.
Help me figure out what Problem this is
Thanks!
Most likely you're using a mod that isn't compatible with the game version. If you're running 1.09 (the beta patch), the only mod that won't minidump is the sound mod. Otherwise, make sure the mod you're trying to run has been updated for 1.05, and that you extracted it properly. The mod folder needs to have GameInfo, String, etc folders, depending on the mod. If you just have a mishmash of files not broken down into folders, it won't work.
Oh. ok hehe I have been trying now for 3 days straight to just figure out what was the trouble I was having I reinstalled the game now so I will update it and see If I can get it to work.
Thanks ![]()
By the way do you know how to remove the beta version 1.09 off the game.
The only way to revert back to 1.05 is to uninstall the game, uncheck "show pre-release versions" in Impulse, and install it again. If you want to keep 1.09, however, you can simply copy the entire Sins installation folder to another location before you uninstall, and run 1.09 from there. This way you can have both 1.09 and 1.05.
Oh. hehe I kinda did something like that. I went ahead I uninstalled EVERYTHING. All the game folders all the files every single trace of the game. When I reinstalled it with the disk and instead of downloading it from Impulse It seemed to of haved worked. The game now says version 1.00 I was so relieved to see it no glitch no minidump crap everything seems to work now. Thanks for all the replies I really appreciate all the help you guys gave.
THANKS!!!
