Refinery question

do they 'link' like trade ports?

I know trade ports work better in a chain (an unbroken chain).  Is the same true for refineries and their ships?

TIA

Not exactly. Refineries have a one jump range and fill up one of the mine's refinery quota. More than the quota won't help.

I'm thinking the fewer of your refinery ships that have to go through hostile planets to get the ore and crystals the better. Pirates and other hostiles have a way of honing in on those little valuable ships.

Refinery ships won't go into a system with no resource rocks, and as Kitkun points out they only have a 1-jump range. This also means there's no "trade route" equivalent. Colonizeable planets can support 3 refineries, neutrals can support 4.

hmmm so 1 refinery will harvest vom the Planet and every system 1 jump away. So there is no point in more refinerys? I mean 2 refinerys wont do any better even if its on one of the systems 1 jumpm away?
