So, having a few problems on Re-install

As the title says, I'm having some problems reinstalling my game.

I've had the game since may-juneish, and been having some fun with it.  I stopped playing for a few weeks, and when I got back, the game transitioned the patches to impulse.  So after restling with that and finally getting it to work, I decided to try out the beta.  It all worked fine smooth beans and everything.

Then I decided to try out the starwars mod.  I put it into the right folder, and the option to select it showed up in-game.  Whenever I tried to run it though, the game would end up freezing.  So I emergency exited a few times, and retried to run it.  No dice.

Then I realised it probably wasn't working because of the beta.  I couldn't find out a way to "De-betatize" so I ended trying to un-install the game, so that I could reinstall it with the correct stable patch.  I couldn't find an un-install button at first, so I went to the control panel and uninstalled it from there.  I'm not really sure how effective it was, because sins still showed up.  I then found the uninstall option from the game cd startup or whatever, and tried again.  This permenently uninstalled it I think, so I reinstalled it.  But after reinstalling it,  all I get is a black screen.  I tried uninstaling/ reinstalling again with just the vanilla, and I also get a black screen.  I also tried uninstaling it from impulse, but I get the same exact deal.

My guess is that I have some lingering file somewhere, that is messing with reinstall or something?  I'm runing vista, and I'm positive it isn't graphics or drivers related, as I've played the game fine before on vanilla, patched, and beta versions fine before.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or know something that could help me out? Search hasn't helped me much.  If you need more information, just ask. (Although I've probably given way to much already, and scared away anyone who could help.  :D)

Hmm... try uninstalling and deleting everything in the C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\ and C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire directories and then try reinstalling. And yeah, most mods won't work with the beta.

Edit: Finally that blasted edit button appears. It annoys me to no end.

Yes, Great Success.

That did the trick. I probably should have picked up on that because I had actually checked out that first directory to delete the Mod I had placed in there. I should have realized when I've uninstaled it twice, the mod should not be in that folder anymore? But many thanks. I would probably have been spinning in circles around that for weeks.

It is kind of weird that I have to uninstall it from impulse, and the disk, as well as deleteing those files... But as long as it works, I won't question it.

Again, many thanks for the prompt assistance!
