Star Wars: the Fleet packs

I have always loved this game because just when its gets stale the sandbox element allows you to do something new and its like a whole new game.

I have to thank Ronin for the newest reemergence for me, his Federation and Empires mod has inspired me to go back and create some ship packs of my own.  I think I will, of course make them available here soon, and include them as a option in the Star Wars mod, that we have been working on, sorry it has taken so long, but you can appreciate that we are pretty busy sometimes, (I am a grad student).  But the mod is alive and well.

Just wanted to show off what I have done and wanted to ask the community if there was any ship they would like to see, my ownly limit is it can't be a super capital ship since I made the ISD's the huge hull, and really this is because I don't know if I could do them justice, I might try again down the road.

Planned packs:  Imperial, Old Republic(including KOTOR era), Rebel/New Republic, CIS, maybe a Consortium (includes all crime groups but not sure yet, a later on project).

Well here is my little fleet.

The hammerhead will be for the republic but I didn't want to leave it out.

Ships right now:
ISD
Dominator
Venator
Victory
Acclamator
Bayonet Frigate
TIE fighter
TIE Interceptor

Ships still planned:
Carrack
Dreadnought
Lancer
Imp Gunnship/missle Gunship
TIE Bomber

Could use some suggestions for huge and large hulls, please keep in mind ISD's huge, Vic and Venator Large

My cargo hulls ships are the :

Modular task force constuctor:

The Imperial Cargo Carrier

The Imperial trader tug

So in other news I was finally able to break my ship packs over at I-mod down into smaller bundles I hope it helps all those fans who have been having troubles with that.

If you don't have an Emperor's shuttle, you're missing on an important asset!
me thinks.

Love your designs and thanks for the acknowledgment.

Very cool but Zyxpsilon right it was one of the most widely used and well known ships next to falcon.

What you mean the T-4a Lambda shuttle in Return of the Jedi or the one in Ep III?

Because I totally agree, though I admit its still a work in progress, I keep tweaking it.

@Freeman,

You can count on the Ebon Hawk as a Republic cargo hull, Doko's solar ship maybe, I think I might include it as a small hull. My stands currently is that fighters/bombers are tiny and shuttles/gunships are small. The CIS has plenty of fighters but are short shuttles so I think that could work, definitely a challenge.

@Ronin, Thank you for making great ships that inspire us to take a second look at Galciv2's ship editor. Also congrats on the Lyrans, another amazing pack.

And now just the Imperials...

not pictured are all the small hulls, because I creating them in a separate game, I used the battle of the gods scenario and the Terran tech tree doesn't have small hulls.

Ok so an update,

I am hoping to have at least four of each size hull

Just finished the ISD Harrow

The medium hull broadside cruiser, also tweaked the Bayonet Cruiser (not pictured).

And for the large hulls the Immobilizer 418 cruiser (Interdictor class)

I am looking for any suggestions for a large and hull hull class. Think I am good for mediums, up next the Dreadnought, Lancer, and Carrack.

Yep, that's the ONE.

When Solo & Leia are swooping by the DeathStar-II to go the Andor surface, they are aboard such a 'shuttle'... and the Emperor uses an almost similar ship to land later in RotJ.

you should make a Death Star, but use a cargo hull so it only has the single hitpoint so a fighter can take it out.

I'll look into it, maybe replace the Terror star with a new design.

For now through I thinking the World Devastators as the spawn ship will be the empire's final cargo hull.
I was kidding about the cargo hull. I think the Terror Star could be modded to look like the Death Star. Either replace the Terror Star or make it a Huge Hull. I like the Terror Star idea though.

The only thing that sucks would be that it fires on stars not planets. Wish that could be edited but I hear it is hard coded.

Too bad.

But some good news. Finished another large hull, the Vindicator, the precursor to the Interdictor class and the Victory II frigate (medium), which is pretty cool looking even if it share the same name as the destroyer.

Hey Aggie I am very worried that my mod will be Foxed. Here is the definition of Foxed

Some total conversions and mods based on copyrighted franchises, like Star Wars or Alien, caused their owners to take a harsh stance towards modders. Some strictly non-commercial mods appear to be tolerated, for example the Star Wars mods Galactic Conquest for Battlefield 1942, Warlords for Homeworld 2, and Troopers for Unreal Tournament 2004 (Troopers was later given the rights to continue production of their mod). It appears to be dependent both on the direction of the modification (does it use official characters in a story or cause conflicts with canon information, rather than merely taking place in a pre-established universe) and on the company that owns the title. Fox's notoriety for a zero-tolerance policy against modifications and other possibly questionable infringements are the sources of the term foxed

Well, I would avoid to much copyright material, and maybe you might consider dropping Star Wars as the main source and make it more a personal universe inspired by star wars.

But I woun't worry to much.  There have been mods for other star wars games like EaW that had storylines that went against cannon and nothing was done, since its a free project and not in direct conflict with any of LucasArts projects.  Again just avoid to much copyright material like photos and what not, I know that will be band from download here.

Thankfully my stuff is 100% cannon.  If it anit in a LucasArts game its not here.  No reason to sue me.  I am toting the company line ;).

A lot ofthe images forthe race portraits are ones I found on the internet and the race logos are edited (IE: The Imperial logo is more silver) I've worked hard on the campaign. Darth Vader is supposed to be a part of the story but really doesn't phisicly appear. BTW your ships are starting to put mine to shame.

Stop it your going to make me blush :)

In all honest I woun't worry about the logos, they have packs here already, I guess there not too copyrighted or they wouldn't allow them.  The Vader thing is tricky,  I guess my advice is go forth and be prepared to be shut down.  This might not be a big enough project for them to really come after you, especially if you avoid footage for the movies or copyrighted music, without permission.

Definately add a readme that states that Star Wars is the property of LucasArts and perhaps through in there something about this is a non-canon interpretation "inspired" by the film and works created by George Lucas.  I think credit and a disclaimer will help, though again it doesn't mean they don't have the right to shut you down.  But jewel inspired ships and a campaign losely based on the story, that is non-profit, would most likely be ok, in my opinion.  I figure it this way, Stardock has lawyers and what not that would worry about LucasArts sueing them.  If they let your mod be uploaded here that pretty much means that it is ok, if they say no, then you should ask permission from LucasArts.

I'm not gonna include footage or music from the flims, and than you for the idea, I will include a read me giving credit to LucasArts and George Lucas. But are telling me I shouldn't include Darth Vader in the story?

No, I think you can still use Vader, just REALLY spell it out in the Readme that this is a non-cannon interpretaion sinnce Vader is SO iconic.  But it really depends on how your mod uses Vader, I think if you keep him in the spirt of his character as a bad ass sith lord I think that would be cool but I wouldn't make him the lord of the dance or nothing.  Lucas Arts might not like the destrcution of a beloved character like that.  I think that is the kind of non-connon issues that fall under that "foxed" rule.  Keeping characters true to form.  It would like making Luke a drug addict or something.

Which is another reason why i made absolutely sure whatever was going to be used as Minors in CoSH are actually listed in many, many, places as being into the public domain.

The race "portraits" (as examples) for the Rebels are 1)Millenium falcon ship & 2)X-Wing for the trade... NCC-1701 is the ship again (and not Kirk himself or William Shatner)... as are all Star Trek "races". The empire is either a Vader ship or a Lambda shuttle.

All & any of these were mostly found off Wikipedia and copied under the perfectly legal fair-use act.

If Paramount or Lucas corporations want to prevent ***anybody*** from using their copyrighted material (foxed or not, btw) in a free mod created by individuals for a game they all bought from StarDock (which also have every rights into controlling what gets distributed for THEIR copyrighted assets)... they would have to issue a cease & desist formal court case - in which the plaintiff MUST prove the intention is to cause damages.

For a game? As a community 'gift' from extremely poor peoples (no contest, How do you evaluate some actors bank accounts?) like us modders?

Comon' - i'd say, let them all come to me right here in Laval, knock at my 1 1/2 appartment door and PROVE my intentions are wrong and that i would gain any profits from this while taking precious billions off Hollywood businesses as a whole.

I respect SD and if they didn't refuse Batman & Spiderman or even X-Com, then the problem isn't ours - it's who would go to justice to sue me for being creative at 0$ income for all that 'work'.

Warner went out with Clone Wars 'comics' in feature shape... Who's sueing them? Oh, they share the juicy box-officew results, right?

In my case, i've got every permissions anyone should ask for. If ever.

Go to theforce.net and check out their fan art section.  Lucas doesn't own that and I'm sure you can find all sorts of good pics you can alter and make portraits out of.
