just to clarify what happend at the time, i had just been winning a game when the host decided to quit and the game shut down so we all went back to the M-Player lobby. after some random chatting this happend. Now as for my computer i have not installed anything new since SINS and have been playing it for the better part of a week without seeing this problem before so i cant pinpoint where this error is being caused, and i have seen more disconnects than i care to mention from the hosts, but never caused this so i doubt it was the origin. But there is the error and i was wondering what can be done to avoid it in the future, advance thanks for your companys co operation in helping me resolve this.

Apart from that i am enjoying the game and will continue playing, but i will admit to being disapointed with this problem :)

p.s good luck on the new patch we are all looking forward to it.

Any reply is appreaciated thank you.

1. Are all your device drivers up-to-date?

2. Were you running a custom MOD or MAP?

EDIT:
I just re-read your post and have a "clarification" question.

Are we to understand the you "mini-dumped" while you were chatting in the lobby?
yes drivers are up-to-date,
no i dont have any custom maps or content. nothing installed on my computer since sins before it happend,
ive just been running the vanilla game for a week and that happens without warning in the chat lobby so its slightly confusing, which is why im asking for a direct translation from the code so i can fix it.
However if its a problem with the game no biggie il wait for the expansion and just carry on playing, but if its a problem with my computer its practically brand new so well within warranty. I just cant do anything about it unless i know what it means and whats going on either way

You should email the dump to support@ironcladgames.com, they can debug it and tell you if it's anything on your end :) What you posted is just the location and the name of the file where the dump was saved, nobody can tell you anything from that :)

If there is a minidump file present, please zip it up along with a copy of a dxdiag from your PC and a description of what you were doing when it occurred to support(at)ironcladgames(dot)com. Please note that you must provide your Sins of a Solar Empire serial number in your email to receive support (anti-piracy measure).

The best solution is to give up hope.

The games been through FIVE patches and it's still as buggy as ever.

I've given up hope on a working patch.

I, like so many others, have stopped playing this buggy piece of sh!t. The dismal number of players online are certainly not surprising and serves to demonstrate what I'm saying...

Sins of a Solar Empire is UNPLAYABLE as a multiplayer.

darkcurrent,

Unplayable how? You can't host? Your game crashes? You're experiencing lag? It's quite difficult to provide support when there is no further information given.

However, I will try anyway...

If you're running game version 1.05:

1. Disable/uninstall all MODS while troubleshooting.

2. Please make sure your OS, and all device drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes it helps to un-install old drivers (and actually un-install the device in the device manager, then re-boot) and then install the new drivers.

3. If it's hosting issues you're running into please download and follow the instructions in my guide linked-to under the GREEN writing in the OP of
this thread

4. If you suspect latency, first run a ping-test to your local gateway if you want to take your ISP out of the equation. You could pipe the ping-test to a textfile to e-mail to your ISP support if it shows issues (I find doing so, helps convincing some ISP's in sending out a tech to make the corrections :) )

If the ping-test to your ISP's local gateway is fine, you could run a "trace" (tracert) to ICO's IP if you keep getting disconnected from ICO (you can find ICO's IP by running "netstat -a" while in-game and connected to ICO) or run the "trace" to the IP of a friend you're trying to play the MP game with if it's the friend you're having higher latency to.

If you're running game version 1.1 BETA (v1.09):

1. Disable/uninstall all MODS while troubleshooting.

2. Please make sure your OS, and all device drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes it helps to un-install old drivers (and actually un-install the device in the device manager, then re-boot) and then install the new drivers.

3. You should not be having any issues hosting with the new netcode (Alloy) in the 1.1 BETA version. I've tested it with many firewall/router configs and Alloy "tunnels" past/through them all with ease. :)

4. **same as for version 1.05**

Please post back with more information so we can be of more help...

thanks,

the Monk

the_monk, the last thing I need is your "advice"

If you search up my posts, I think it would be fair to say that I would rather eat a steaming pile of sh!t left under the blistering heat of the sahara desert than read your post. You clearly did not read mine which says..

"The games been through FIVE patches and it's still as buggy as ever."

Wow, who would've thought that by buggy I meant the minidump errors and the syncing problems... both of which is listed and admitted by the devs as major bugs in the technical forums.

Maybe when you stick your head out of your @$$ and stop assuming, you would comprehend what I'm trying to say, but I doubt you've got the intelligence.

You can comment on the game as you like darkcurrent, but cut the insults towards other users who are only trying to help.

So tell me, darkcurrent, how many games are perfect out of the box?

Go ahead - name a few that haven't needed patches. Not to say that haven't had patches made - but that haven't needed patches.

Now tell me, what happens when you patch things? Do you truly know? I'm getting the impression you've never done programming, or even have a concept of it. When you patch things, it introduces new bugs. Look at World of Warcrafts update list - it's been through hundreds of patches and it's still fixing stuff from the beginning. Now, after you go down the line, and get past 10 patches or so, the average game is going to be good and bugfree. Until then, however, it's still going to have bugs.

Second off, you have no clue what constitutes an active game. This is one of the more popular games out - online isn't frequented often because of game lengths. No one is willing to commit for games of 5-6 hours in length. Thirdly, the game works fine, and ironclad gives tremendous customer support.

And if you've ever played online... the syncing problems are not the game's fault. You have to use your own know-how to fix the router blocks, as they can't do it for you.

Seriously - don't make assumptions that this game is special in that it isn't made perfect instantly, or that it's not popular because online isn't frequented a lot, or that 5 patches is a lot.

Don't think White House Press Secretary is a very healthy job. But they sure need people who know what to say!

Hi all, loved playing sins when I could but latley I cant even load the game without it minidumping on me!

c:\Users\AppData|Local\Temp\Sins
Dump\Sins-v1.05-2008-08-22-23-14-56-5564-2380.dmp

Must say, im a little peeved. It was all OK before the patch and since, like so many above, the multi-player or large maps caused a minidump, now I can't even play a small single player map!
Send that minidump to support@ironcladgames.com for them to look at. If it's something on your end they can point it out.

It goes without saying that old saves/mods won't work, since it wasn't clear in your post whether or not that might be the issue.
