Black Space on created map?

I just created my first map using build in editor - in game entire space is all BLACK the star gives out just a little bit a light but only around itself - how do make it so star actualy gives light to planets around it (like in random maps the space lighted in blue or red etc)?

Also what is a diffirence betwen LONG JUMP and Wormhole Travel?  from their description it sounds like they both need to travel from star to star?

thank you

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Are you talking about the skyboxes? Try checking and unchecking them in the options.

Long jump is star to star. Wormholes aren't always on maps, but they have the same basic function. The differences are that they aren't all connected to each other, they have instantaneous travel, and have different research. You also send your ships into the center of a wormhole to see where it goes the first time.

i am looking on the manual.. but can't seem to figure it out

Check the options menu. I think it's under user interface. If you're zoomed into a planet and change the options, you should notice a difference in the background.

btw weird thing. on the main page with threads it shows that there is allreday a reply to my post but i keep refreshing the thread over and over and replies do nto show up until like 15 min later.. same goes with posts I make - they only show up like 20 min later. whats up with that?

Beats me. If you're the last to post (That you can see), try hitting the edit button (If you can see it) and saving the same post. Usually new posts will show up then.

The forum can be a little slow on updating sometimes. If it's showing you that there's a reply but you can't see it, a good trick is to edit your post and accept (you don't actually have to change anything). This will almost always work and show you the reply :)

Edit: My turn to  X-(

ok i played with it for a bit and it seems that background space color is always coming up in Blue - i was sure it was based on star color - no?
and during tutorial i belive my space background was red and perhaps one time yellow.

could you guys clearfy more on this?

It's not based on star color, I don't think. It just randomly picks from available skyboxes. I think you can toggle it on and off until you get one you like, though.

hmm to bad would have been nice if it was star color based- then when you travel from your home star to the next you would see a scinery change- an alien horizonts so to speak =)

would be nice in devs would add this as an option in future patch - should not be hard to do - all you have to do is match background color with star color =)

Not what I've heard... but you probably would know more about it.

Also, if it's always a dark blue, than you probably have only the 'Deep-Space Skyboxes' option selected.

It's possible. Been a long time since any skybox question popped up. Should be easy enough to test anyway :) Just keep starting new games and comparing star color to skybox :P

Hmmm... I should mention that what I heard was that a selection of skyboxes is tied to each star type.

I'm so out of it...

And it's not even a Friday.   I don't know, like I said, it's been ages since skyboxes have been discussed, so my memory is a little rusty. Or a lot. ;)

You are correct by the way, Kitkun, on your second post. Opening each star's entity file shows their possible skybox selection. :)

You mean this one? My fifth post in this thread?

Yeah yeah, that one. But it's the second post on the skybox-tied-to-star issue, so I still win

Beat it to death with a large blunt object? And look at you now, already derailing threads like the best of them!  :HOT:

Nah. It's like a zombie. No matter how many times you beat it down, it comes back again.

It must be your bad influence.
