Boot Skin Problem

Hello,
I hope I'm in the right category.
I can't apply bootskins anymore. When I'm trying to open the bootskin.file I receive an error message, saying "There was an error importing this skin file. Possible causes are a corrupt skin file, or a read-only skin directory"
I've tried to download and apply several BootSkins, e.g. LED.Matrix, Escape and Odessey. I've never experienced this problem before.
Any ideas what could be the reason? (OS: XP SP2)
Thank you very much!

It used to work?
What changed?
Can you run any of the bootskins that came with bootskin?

You will find several versions of Bootskin for download on the Bootskin site. This is because Bootskin has not been in development for some time I am afraid. Officially it is no longer supported. What I would suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling. If that does not work try installing the other versions. If none will work any longer there might not be much that can be done I'm afraid. Please keep us posted though.

Thanks for your suggestions!
I did as recommendend in the BootSkin download section (deleted the vdstub.sys driver file) and installed version 1.0.
Now it works just fine!!!

Excellent! I'm glad it is working for you. Please be aware that if you should ever have a boot problem and you need to uninstall the best way to do so is through safe mode. That is sort of a no-duh thing to say but you be shocked how often we get asked that, just covering the base. :)

Thanks again! Safe mode is very useful indeed and has already helped me with several problems ;)
