Ships losing movement points

Hi all, I decided to get back to this game after a several month break, and loaded up the new ToA that I had purchased but never actually played.  Arter a couple hours into my game, I noticed that many times my ships wouldn't move as many spaces as they had movement points for.  This made timing planet attacks rather difficult.

I tried this out manually moving both fleets and individual ships.  Frequently, when a ship has 5/5 movement points, clicking to move 1 sp, it will now have 3/5.  Doing it again may result in having 2/5, or maybe 1/5.  When starting out with 5/5, I never get all 5 movement points, and can get anywhere from 2 to 4.  I tried to pin down exactly what the circumstance that might make it happen, but it seems random.  I am not sure if there is some new feature I do not know of, or if this is all a terrible bug.

I have searched the forums using the terrible search feature available, but haven't had any success.  Anyone see this/know how to make it go away?  Thanks!

Are you flying through someones space that has a -2 movement module on a military starbase?
Do all ships in your fleet have the same amount of movement available? Cuz the fleet will only go as far a the lowest one.

A few questions on this.

Did you purchase it, installed it, but never played it? If yes, then which version was installed already? If this was the beta that was already installed, then you should uninstall the game completely, then reinstall the current version. Some oddities came up from people in the beta trying to upgrade to the live version.

If LedZerggelin's comment about mil bases or Yor space doesn't pan out to you and you have a fresh install of TA 1.96, then we have something to poke at for a bit more.

I do recall a ship movement bug JUST like you are describing happening during the beta...but that got fixed a long time ago.

Thanks for the idea, Loupdinour. That's excactly what I did: upgrade from a beta version. I'll give that a try, as nothing else seems to make sense.

Well, uninstalled everything, even DL and DA, and deleted install directories and saved game directories. Redownloaded everything from scratch, but I still see this issue on the new game I launched. I am familiar with the game mechanics regarding the Yor super ability and military bases, and this isn't it.

Nobody else is seeing this happen? Obviously not, because it is quite annoying and would have been mentioned. Perhaps I'll have to submit a bug report.

Aye, a bug report is the only thing I'd suggest at this point then since the re-install didn't do it.

I know there were issues if you didn't get both the install directory and 'my games' galciv directory cleared, but as you said, you cleared the save game location as well.

Don't forget a 'save game' where this bug is happening. Maybe sending a SG to someone else to try and see if the bug is repeated on their setup?

Just in case anyone stumbles upon this thread with a similar issue and looking for a solution, I did resolve it.  Unfortunately, my solution may not be very helpful; I rebuilt my PC.  I was having issues with other software as well, and it was just time.  When I reinstalled ToA, it works fine.
