savefile location

not "my documents" please

When I install a game, I do so on my D: drive, in a folder for games.
Normally this works great.

All relevant files to the game is found in d:\games\[gamename]\ and it's subfolders.

Not so with GalCiv.
Savefiles, option-settings and various other files are found where I don't want them.
C: drive, in a subfolder of the "my documents".

Is there a mod or something that fixes this, in my eyes, problem, or is this a "feature" that serves no purpose other than to make it harder for people to share savegames with their SO that uses a different login on the same computer?

It's a "Games for Windows" convention, actually, in that Microsoft wants saved games to be associatied with specific user accounts and not considered part of the game/program installation. You can blame Stardock for following it, but this is the trend now, with more and more games placing their saves outside of their actual game directories.

It is not something that can be modded or configured through the game, though you can redirect it with a junction point if you need to.
