Multiplicity - One Monitor Primary

This may be an easy question.  I have two computers, one in my office at home and a second in the basement.  Each has a single monitor.

I was looking for a program to control the basement computer from my office.  I downloaded Multiplicity and installed on both machines -- I set the primary in the office.  I thought from the office I could simply press a 'hot-key' and toggle to the basement screen.  Is that possible?  If yes, how?

Thanks in advance,

John

Multiplicity is not for remote control.  For that look at VNC

Multiplicity is used to link up computers on one desktop to one keyboard and mouse. It will even allow you to copy and paste between two machines. However what you are describing is just as Zubaz says and sounds more like VPC. However if you use a laptop the same time as you use a desktop often then check out the Multiplicity trial.

After re-reading my message I realized it wasn't very clear. Both computer are in my home attached via CAT-5 cables to the same router. I just wanted easy assess to the PC down one floor (bsmt) from the main floor. Both PC's have the usual setup --- one monitor and one mouse. Is there a way to use multiplicity to control the PC downstairs from the one upstairs?

No.
Remote Desktop may work for you though if both are Windows PCs.

Multiplicity contains no way to monitor your connection. Remote Desktop lets you see what you are doing.

You can look at our software like this. If you had your laptop sitting next to your desktop monitor with Multiplicity you could just move the mouse right over to the laptop and control it with the same mouse and keyboard you were just using on the main computer. This is all done with the computer being right on the desktop. Having distance will not allow you to see what you are doing.
