Campaign: Nightmare

Hey people,

I am totally depressed after playing the last campaign mission for hours. I have the Terror Star finished an in position, my ships did defend the Terrorstar and are down to 2 to 14 hitpoints. But this ******* Terror Star wont blow up the system, since the Iconians have a planet in the system and they wont sell it not even for all planets, ships and techs. Since I cant break alliance since they are in my team and cant finish the mission....any ideas???

Or do I have to start all over?

I don't think there is economic time to get those techs to influence it away. I'd just say restart the mission...it's not a long mission anyway. 15 turns max.

I had all the planets, I built my Terror Star, I blew up the Star - and lost the mission.
Any idea why that happened?

Expand on this please. All the planets in the galaxy or in the system?

If it's in the system, then get a planet outside of the system, then blow it up.

Influence the planets away from them in your main star system that you must destroy but what you really should've done was colony rush all 5 planets in that star system before the Iconians or the Krynn can get to them. That however isn't my main concern for this mission, it is the fact that it will take me over 130 weeks just to research each stage of the terror star construction. How on Earth are you supposed to accomplish the research when you have a tanking economy of -745 billion credits per turn?!

You can get the terror star techs and a planet outside the system from trade with your iconian allies.

About the negative income. I found that it was the sheer maintainance of the Arnorian ships that was causing my eco to tank. I sold them off to the Iconians and Krynn for as much money as I could. Balanced me out a bit. I also take creativity and pray it procs me through the Terror Star techs ASAP, pray that the Krynn and Iconians use the ships I sold to them to good effect and hold the Dread Lords off long enoough for my terror star to complete building, bought one of their planets outside the main system I needed to blow up, and blew up the star even though the Krynn and Iconians had planets around it (and thus declared war, not that it mattered much since the mission ended straight after with success).

Thanks for the idea. But there are two issues I am having with that suggestion as I am still stuck on trying to complete this last mission. 1) You don't get the techs through the Iconians, the Krynn have all stages of Terror Star Developement. 2) No matter with whatever I have to try and barter with them, they refuse to share with me the Terror Star techs? Will they be willing to share the terror star tech with me if I forge an alliance with the Krynn? Is there any way I can obtain the terror star techs from them?

Oh?  If your teammate the Iconians don't have the techs, then it got patched to remove them.  Sneaky sneaky...

Well, depending on what your current relations are w/ the Krynn, you may need to slug it out and learn the techs yourself.  That may just be quicker than trying to build relations up.

w/o the ability to buy the techs, it really makes this mission more fun.  With them buyable, the mission was done in as quick as 15 turns...not many shots fired.  I think my first run thru I tried to research way, then I noticed the techs in the Iconian's list.

Which version are you playing the campaign under?

I am currently playing under version 1.96.027, the same one that I installed on my computer because Impulse for some reason won't let me update ANY of my Stardock games. It wont let me even update Impulse itself!

Yeah, I guess I will either have to forge an alliance with the Krynn or research the tech myself? But how do I do that when I have a tanking economy of -496BC each turn and when it takes almost 136 weeks to research each stage of Terror star developement?! XO
