Domination Strategy

Advent Only

How it works is simple.

Build two Progenitor Motherships and get them Resurection. Then build 14 I repeat 14 Rapture Battlecruisers and get them to lvl six for Domination fast.

Build an Iconus Guardian for each Capital Ship and 16 Domina Subjugators. Add in a mix of Crusaders, Illuminators, and Aeria Drone Ships or Defense Frigates.

Strengths: The Domination Ability causes enemy ships to turn on there friends permamently and really throws them into chaos, add in Vertigo and the enemy is in complete disarray before the fight has even really begun. All the other ships are really just there to do clean up, with the exception of the Motherships who are there in case one of your Capital Ships goes down and to colonise the Planets you took.

Massive Firepower + Vengeance= Dead Enemy Capital Ships.

Weaknesses: It takes awhile to build this fleet up and can only be done in Large Multiplayer Games against Human Players if You are Allied at the start with someone who can watch your back. Still you can split this force into two for the same effects.

By the time I had that fleet, I don't think I have to worry about my opponent. The game should be well in hand.

In theory it sounds great, but few games last for the 3-5 hrs u'd need to get that, unless ur playing AI.

Vasari have a better version of this. Their carrier cap lvl 6 is a mini frigate factory in and of itself. It clones a unit three times. YAY.

Amish, you are thinking too small to defeat such a grand strategy. Why rely on one Vasari Carrier Cap? Yes...YES...we'll use....SIXTEEN Vasari Carrier Caps!!!

They will all be clustered and chain their repair cloud ability so they never die! And their bombers and fighters will pick apart everything on the map!

And you'll only have been dead 3 hours!

In Sins 2.0 32 caps will be used.

Then I can't wait for Sins 32.0.

I've wondered about the Domination strategy myself, not that it's really practical. Suppose that you did have 16 Level 6 Raptures. In any battle you could turn 16 enemy ships for an effective difference of 32 ships (opponent loses 16, you gain 16).

Speaking of the Rapture, will it's value increase in 1.1 since it has the ability to improve the firepower of strikecraft? If your fleet has more drone hosts (and thus more strikecraft) then the value of this capital ship has increased.

I usually have a Rapture or two in an average Advent fleet, but tend not to go after combat ships. It's all about stealing the support cruisers.

I tend to grab Overseers for the mobile phase detection. Comes in Handy.

I think unless you have allies that don't need you for 3 hours. Well your just not needed period. Your either dead or your allies are already there with victory just about the moment your ready to fight.More likely your on the way to getting gang banged by more than one opponent. Like the Cap only strategy it's ultimately flawed by needing so many level 6 caps. Level 1 Caps are dog meat against a proper player. Also the more caps the harder it is to level them as they share exp. points.
Grabbing ships with abilities that enhance your fleet with abilities you don't have as advent is more in line with what is achievable under normal circumstances.

You can do the rapture spam and it may work on a small map if your opponent lets you do it but in a Huge game (like the current game me and some friend are playing that has literally taken me 3 days to conquer 49 out of the 869 planets....)you will have to split your fleet up into multiple groups.

Its funny when someone makes a Superfleet in out game as we had one player literally had to crash his economy to rebuild his fleet. Its also fun because my main fleet has 2 lvl 9 Desolaters, 1 lvl 8 Skinatra carrier, a lvl 9 Evac, anda lvl 10 Devastor. +D

Just what kind of computer are you running?

a Crossfire rig with 4gigs of ram.... What really sucks is when you get the final tier ability that lets you see all ships that are Phase Jumping no matter where they are....

It plays smooth for me though.

Really, I'd like a screenshot. I've got 4 gigs also, an 8800gt, and Core 2 3.0GHZ and I can only get up to about 100 planets for a few hours before lag sets in.

Do you have your AA on because mine is off. Also what resolution do you play at as i play at 1280X1024(max my monitor can get).
That doesn't actually affect framerates for me. Whether I have it at 1024X768 with no AA and all effects off, or with everything on at the highest, there's no change is speed for me even when it's already lagging.

What type of connection you got? AA does effect me due to ATi's weakness of AA (its a big frame rate hit for me). Does it lag for you in multi or single player as this game does take up alot of system resources i have noticed. I just kill all my background programs and put my Bitdefender on gamer mode.

Your processor is better then mine as mine is just an AMD 6000.

Well on Smaller maps I go for one Progenitor and two to three Raptures if my opponent proves a hard nut to crack with just a spam fleet of LRMs, DFs, and HCs.

On Larger maps is where the strategy really takes off as the Maps I like to play online with friends have nearly a thousand planets with restricted phase lanes with long transit times which means there are indeed frontlines and my Sledgehammer approach will work. Mainly because the games last six or so hours before we even start to really go at it.
