Drath Legion Bug?

I appear to have killed them?

I hadn't played a lot of Twilight of the Arnor, so it's possible this predates my attempting to mod it and I just didn't know it, but the Drath Legion no longer seems to have any Data in it?

Ship schematics are empty, tech tree is empty, there's no data there at all? If I access another race starting, then back out to the race choice screen and reselect the Drath Legion, the previous race info stays in the screens (IE name is Drath Legion, but shows Thalan Description, Ship style etcetera) until the game starts, and then the dataset is empty again.

This happens whether Mods are off or on, and regardless of the mod selected. The XML files appear to be fine/not corrupted or accidently duplicated/modded, and the issue has survived a complete uninstall and reinstall of Twilight of the Arnor?

I'm not sure how I could have screwed this up, and even less sure how to fix it? Any thoughts?

Thanks - Jonnan

Additionally - I feel really stupid on this - My reference says "Ctrl+Print Screen Take a screenshot (goes into screenshot folder)"

I cannot find any screenshot folder, either among the install directories or among the my games folders? I'm sure I'm overlooking it somehow, but having a hard time imagining where?

Thanks Again - Jonnan, (Who will post a screenshot if he can, like, find them?)

Well, I still don't know how to make a screenshot , but I had a moment of inspiration and looked in the "Twilight" My Games folder - Sure Enough, there was a corrupted "Drath Legion.raceconfigxml" that it had initiated at some point - delete that, and wa-la - back comes the Drath Legion in all their annoying glory.

Which does point to a possible issue with this xml-update I'm working on - if the system automatically makes .raceconfigxml files when you play a race in this, then these may need to be cleared prior to changing out the mods - that is *REALLY* annoying.

But it's much better than somehow corrupting the main game from a mod, which I was really beginning to wonder how I had managed.

Apologies - Jonnan

Press "ctrl and Prt-Scrn". This will save a copy of the image to your "screenshots" folder. If you want to post it in a thread here, you will have to use a third-party. The most commonly used is ImageShack.
For easy to use instructions on how to do this, read this post by Drengin:

To the contrary in fact, this "function" has proven to be particularly useful in many instances while i am developping CoSH & X-Worlds' compatibility switching assets & altered files.

- Unless you don't see the advantages we get just by editing the races ID from default tags to a full blast temporary #12 custom slot continually available in the usual listing as an indirect opponent to either edit "online" and_or_nor test live.

(PS; This way, you can have as many fake Draths (most probably renamed to prevent confusion) as you wish simply by editing a few things and lines; say, 120% Econo and another at 150%, some Good_Neutral_Evil variations, etc.)

- I feel backups (even if unused, btw) can be a life saver and prevent extensive bug tracking which we would otherwise have to perform manually.

One reason for using svn. Its always backed up and it applies to all file extensions :)

If I had 'saved' a backup of the raceconfig, I would tend to agree - I didn't - it just made a corrupt backup, and then used *that* corrupt backup rather than the original working copy without any request to do so from me.

Now, *knowing about it*, I can live with it with equanimity - I think it's a design flaw implemented this way, but it's hardly devastating, and it's easy to work around. I have no plans to be terribly concerned about it - {G}.

Almost! Unless otherwise known for a fact or exploited for what it can truly help with. ;)
