Poll: HC vs LRM vs carriers

After my

What do you guys, think space warfare should be like.

I came up with the question, are space fighters and bombers usefull, to answer the question, is there any space fighter and bombers in space.

So here my question, do you guy use carriers? Do you fing the fighters and bombers they produce useful?

Other question is if you had two space warship that did the same job, wouldn't you build the better one? Both the LRM and HC are assault ships. Only difference is in there stats. So here is the second question. If you use assault ships, over carriers, do you build , both HC and LRM, LRM only, or just HC?

So what do you guys use?

The beginning of the post is somewhat incohesive...

Also, with 1.1 about to come around everyone's opinion is about to be changed

At the moment, though, LRMs to heavy cruisers (generally) is the way to go. Carriers may end up being more worth it come next patch.

I don't think you can just say one or the other homefleet. HCs are great, but so are LRFs. One has range, the other one is a beast and is faster. However, a carrier has unique advantages. Honestly, if you have enough military labs for HCs, build a balanced fleet of these 3 plus a few flak and support ships built in. If they come at you with repulse (and you are vasari), get light frigates and subverters and LRFs, and then bring your HCs in about 30 seconds later.

In general, I am really starting to get annoyed by the "What's the best ship/tactic/whatever" post, because it all depends on the map and your enemy.

also note hf, that most people that play in sp dont really pick one or the other. i will choose my fleet dynamicly depending on what is needed most at that time. how boring would every game be if i always chose X race and Y ship class. snoozer.

Can you say 10 carrier cruisers per fleet (aka 40 carriers in a superfleet)?

The Devastator should be nice now with both Jam Weapons and Disruptive Strikes getting buffed.

First question how could I rewrite the post so that it is not incohesive,Raging Amish ?

Second, I like having more then one class of ships, myself. It adds a level of depth as it is then not a game, of who has the better upgraded and/ir larger fleet, but a game, of who can build the better comb. arms fleet, and use it. But the more I look at my "What do you guys, think space warfare should be like." post, and the more I read, on how space warfare should be like, form website, that have a element of respecting science, I find less reasons to have differnet class of ship.

There is no point, in having a tier one assult ship, and a tier 3. As you will rush the tier 1 without taking the time out to build up to tier 3 or you will tech up to tier 3 and skip tier 1 or even replace the old tier 1 warships.

Now if we only have one class of warship, we have a game, like ORB or Hegemonia Legions of Iron, where big ships allways win the day. What I'm trying to find out is if there are reasons (that are resources effective) to have more then one class of assult ship. So is there a reason to have different classes of assult ship?

Also some people on my post, say that there are no space fighters in space, with people on the other end agains it. I'm trying to "finish fight", by seeing if even if we had space fighter would they be useful? SO do you guy find fighters and bombers useful?

I know that patch 1.1 will changer the carriers, but will that make them more useful?

I think most people disagree with this assumption you have. Using the Vasari for example my tier 1 will have missiles that hit multiple targets, my tier 3 will have fighters to shoot down enemy bombers or attack enemy tier 1 ships which are defenseless against them, while tier 5 ships dive into the fray and slow enemy movement so that the tier 1 and tier 3 ships have time to do their jobs...

Raging Amish says it quite often, if you spam just one type of ship your opponent can spam your nemesis, you lose.

Since each tier of ship performs differently they each have a reason to be built. Personally I tend to build lrf's and carriers mostly. They require less tech and use the same weapon upgrade for vasari.

As TEC, I personally like to take in a dreadnaught, a colonizer cap, a battleship, and a contingent of 5 hc carriers, 10 Kodiaks, and a good 15-20 LRM's with area warheads. I'll sometimes have a couple Hishokas and a command cruier too, depending.

This is usually my assault fleet. 5 strike groups of fighters and 5 bombers for both anti-fighter/bomber tacops and chasing down fleeing craft, maxed uplink for range for the LRM's and dreadnaught's missiles, Hish for repairs, and all those LRM's and the dreadnaught for long-range targetting of defense platforms and buildings whie the battleship and Kodiaks work over the opposing fleet.

If the above has trouble against a particularly well-entrenched and guarded opponent, I'll bring in another 5 Kodiaks, perhaps another dreadnaught, and definitely a cap carrier and another battleship.

Spamming one ship type leaves you vulnerable to that ship type's designed counter. So far, each ship I've seen has a counter, even scout ships (3-4 light carriers have enough bombers to take one out, if you position the bombers right, in a single pass). A good opponent will see what you're spamming at some point and will come in with its counter as well as some additional ship types to complement it and make it even more lethal....
