Impulse Refresh?

I seldom leave my dialup connected to the Internet overnight, but I did Thursday night I think as I was tired and had a ton of emails to download.  Wehn I tried to close it the next morning it said something about Impulse Refresh needed to finish so i left it a little longer.  Then I tried closing Internet again and it said Impulse needs to reboot and when I did it said Impulse Dock could not load.

In the first place i am not happy that programs "Refresh" themselves without asking.  Impulse was working and now is broken.
