Culture Allegiance Changes in 1.1

I was reading the beta patch notes and i didnt see anything regarding the culture/allegiance system.

I really enjoy playing on large, multi-star maps (ancient gifts fore example) but the way the game currently handles culture and allegiance makes playing such large maps extremely difficult, especially when wormholes get involved.

Some things that i think need to be fixed are:

Wormholes, Wormholes just dont work right in terms of expansion. When expanding through wormholes (especially in ancient gifts) the game doesnt recognise them as being any calculable distance from your home planet, and always gives them a distance value of -1. I think that wormholes should act just like regular jumps (as far as allegiance goes).

Empire Size. Maximum allegiance usually drops by 10% for every jump away from the home planet. While this is fine for smaller maps, it usually causes problems with larger maps, or maps where your expansion path is linear rather than having multiple jumps.  Ideally the host should be able to set empire size, so we can make use of more resources on larger maps.

I agree that it would be nice if culture played a bigger role in v1.1. For instance, instead up boosting allegiance by 10%, maybe make it 15% or 20% (and for Alure of the Unity, bump that too, it's tier 8 for crying out loud). I would also like to see culture spread faster and more quickly take over an enemies colony. I mean common, 30 min? That's an eternity in this game. Halve it, or more.

I agree.

And by "taking over an enemy's colony," I'd love to actually gain control of that world. All logistical and tactical structures are prettymuch the same (except for hangars in terms of tac slots). Why can't the whole system be converted over to me? I hate having to go and colonize a world that's been culturally cleansed. Where'd all the people who liked my culture go?!

Agreed, I remember asking about this ages ago. I figured Culture would turn a world over to you. You might not own the orbital items, but the world itself should rebel and join you! I remember the first time I took out a world with Culture, I was like, wtf?? I had expected it to flip.

It worked that way, back in the day--culture did actually flip worlds.

I don't remember what the reason for the change was, but I do remember being disappointed about it.
