Sadly Disappointed

I was very excited to see PM08 in the store this morning and immediately purchased it.  When I got home and tried to run it I was deflated to see an error message pop up saying it would not run correctly.  After spending a few hours trying in vain to update drivers and anything else I could think of to get it running I find that this is a fairly common occurance.  It is too bad that the package did not list the video card requirements in better detail as I would not have purchased it if I knew then what I have learned after reading these posts.  I have an older machine but have had no issues with other new games.  I figured that a simple driver update might be needed but I did not expect to be faced with the prospect of a hardware upgrade or eating the purchase price of the game.  I loved the original game and wish I could play this one.  Is there any way I can get my money back?  I will gladly purchase the game again when I am able to run it.

Unfortunately, unless the store will take it back, you won't be able to get a refund.

Since you mention that you were really looking forward to playing the game, I will say this: It's very easy to upgrade a video card, and you'll notice better performance in your other games. And, if you're not planning to get a new computer soon, a new video card for $20-$30 can help extend the life of your current computer for a year or two, depending on what kind of games you like to play and what kind of applications you run.

I'm not just saying this because I want you to keep our game. :)  I was a gamer before I ever started making games, and I quickly learned the value of upgrading individual components of the computer to keep it going a year or two more.  :)

Aww, come on...even the publisher of doom, Electronic Arts, would agree to swap the original copy out for a sealed one to return...

Contact sales@stardock.com.  Tell them Brad sent you and I suspect they'll be able to help you. :)
