questions about language, downloads, patches and expansions.

Hello everyone, I am new in this forum.

I bought a copy of GalCivII almost a year ago and totally enjoyed it. However I have some questions:

My copy is in spanish, but it seems that the updates are in english. As a result i am starting to have menus with options in both languages.
Because of this i am interested in changing the game to english, is this posible?

The Galciv official site (this site), says i can download the game again for free  if I have already bought it. I was thinking to do this in order to have the game in english. Does somebody know can I do this? And how can I uninstall my now installed copy before installing the newly downloaded copy again?

The main why I want to change the language of my game, however, is because I am interested in buying the two expansions by download. But my question is: How can I do this from Europe?

I can't seem to find the post, but I remember Kryo responding to someone asking this very question. Galciv2: Dread Lords was sold indirectly from Stardock. Any language conversions were done by that publishing house. I think I got most of that right, or at least the gist of it.

DA & TA however come only directly from Stardock and are only in English.

Assuming you bought the game, not someone else, and have a valid serial number, you will have no issues downloading the english version. There are two ways to do it usinmg one of two installers, Via Impulse, or via SDC (predecessor to Impulse)

To download via Impulse go to: Impulse Download

To download via SDC go to: SDC download

They are easy to use - baring the usual "fingers & thumbs" associated with any new application. If you get a problem doing this, email support@stardock.com. They will want to know your serial number and original email address if it was originally downloaded. The support guys are good, and will lead you through the downloading if you get initial registration orientated issues.

Once you are registered you can download it as many times as you like, for as long as you like - years ahead if need be. Keep Impulse on your system as you will need to use it for the frequent game updates they put out.

Regarding the two expansions you want, once you are registered online, its very easy, just buy them via Impulse, and it will download them and install them for you. (I am in UK, and have no hassles at all, just need to be registered user as above no matter where you are in the world, and you can download the original English version direct from Stardock OnLine)

Once you are setup and registered all is well, just bare with the process of registering, its painless.

Many thanks for the answers.

But how do I download it from stardock central?
At https://www.galciv2.com/Downloads.aspx there are only the options to download Stardock Central (which I already downloaded in order to be able to update the game) and a galciv II demo. If i have to use SDC how do i use it? I have always used the auto update function of the game.

Opps - thats my terminology - my Bad

SDC / Stardock Central are one and the same .....

If you are already in SDC and registered - its real easy now ....

They just released Impulse which is replacing SDC in the long term. Download Impulse (use the download impulse link in post 2), install it. Open it up, give it a couple of mins to have a look round your disk for its game offerings, then use Impulse to buy the two expansions.

Because you are already registered in SDC, you will find Impulse will pick up and recognise your registration details. It will download and install the expansions you want - once you paid for them ;)

From that point, forget SDC and use Impulse as your main Stardock installer.

I will be around for a while - post if you have a problem

[EDIT: as you had a different language pack etc etc, I suggest you completely uninstall GalCiv - Impulse will pick up you dont have it installed, but are entitled to it as long as you are a registered User, and will allow you to download it, therefor you get the english version of what you already have]
