Digital Download

Can someone tell me how the digital download works? Is there any way to back it up on a flash drive or something?

Stardock uses Impulse as it's digital download platform.
With it you can download, archive, update and restore apps.
You could use Impulse to download an app, archive it.  Burn the archive and Impulse installer to a CD/DVD/flash drive move it to another PC; install Impulse an tehn restore the archived app.

Whew!

Does that help?

If you have technical issue with any of that you can always let us know here or through support@stardock.com. I often over tell that suggestion in the forums but I would always rather people ask us questions than get frustrated with our products. We are always happy to help in this newer delivery method!

Dear Seabass

I posted this message (more or less) on the Impulse support forum as well, but as I went around looking for answers, I saw this invite of yours. I am running my games off a machine not connected to the internet. I have archived in (newest) impulse, moved to other PC and attempted restore. Problem is, computer says "connecting..." and does nothing in either online or offline modes. This effectively prevents me from using my software. Is there any way around this, or would a software fix be needed? If fix is needed, could we be informed on this thread and would it be possible to download the fix as a seperate, small file, rather than having to download the full Impulse again from Internet cafe and moving it to PC?

Thanks
Kind regards

I asked the Impulse team about the problem you listed there as I couldn't replicate it myself when I tried. I will post anything they might want to know or any fixes they suggest. In the mean time what OS are you currently using?

I am running Windows XP, SP2. Sytem is Intel 2.4Ghz Quad Core, 4GB Ram (though XP only recognizes 3.something), GeForce 8800GT.

Kryo from your offices actually discovered the problem before I did - maybe that's a lead worth following as well.

Thanks. Will keep an eye on this thead to provide you with info you need.

Kind regards

Indeed, I spoke to one of the Impulse team about it yesterday morning and passed word on to the devs about it, so hopefully we can get this resolved for you soon.

Dear Seabass & Kryo

I had the update tried. It makes no difference (but Impulse takes 1 - 2MB of bandwidth just to start up...)

Apparently Stardock Central gave some trouble with crashing; is that software still being updated (or where can I find the newest patch anyway) - I would like to attempt downloading the expansions packs through Stardock Central, as right now Impulse is 100% non-functional for my purposes. Also, where can I find a patch to download for GC2 to make it ready for installation of the expansions? And what is the newest version? I have GC2 on 2 CD's, to I suppose I have version 1.0. A patch that I can simply download and move to my PC that is sufficient to allow installation of expansions would be great.

Thanks

I hate to simplify things but have to tried uninstalling, restarting, and reinstalling since the update? These issues have been addressed directly and I think there might be something wrong with how the update was applied in your machine. If you could please start up a ticket with us at support@stardock.com and through either method we will get your download to you. :)

Dear Seabass

I have tried uninstall and re-install, but no joy. Ultimately, downloaded expansions for Stardock Central and installed that way. Then activated via dodgy bluetooth - cellphone connection. The connection at least was stable enough to activate, so I am set for now, thanks. Not sure it really helps you with the Impulse problems, though.

As I said, thanks for your and Kryo and Highlander's help in all this.

Kind regards
