Transfering Custom Ship Templates

What am I forgetting?

Hi All,

After a long hiatus from GalCiv2, Im back at it with TotA, but have forgotten how to do this.

I have designed a few custom ship templates at work, and wanted to take them home to play in my game.   I grabbed the My Documents shiptemplates folder, and dropped it in my game at home.   The files are in there, but they dont appear in my game.  Is there a control XML file or something that I am forgetting to take with me?   What else do you need to take to transfer/backup your ship templates for use at a diff computer?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Are you starting from a saved game? Remember that ship designs are only read in when you create a new game.

I did start from a new sandbox game. I had only just reinstalled GC2/DA/TotA on thursday night at home, and Fri morning at work. I did the design work, grabbed the sihptemplates folder and brought it home, dropped it in the GC2TwilightArnor folder in My Documents. This was one of my scout designs on a tiny hull, for use early in the game. It shows up fine in my work computer at the start, but not on the home one. Both are 1.91.021. So does GC2/TotA just read the contents of the shiptemplate folder, or does it get the information from a cfg or xml file?

the ships folder i have has a .xml and a .shipconfig for all the ships I've made. did you copy the whole folder?

They show up if I bring over the Ships folder. So thats my workaround. Then I just upgrade, and save as template in my home computer.

Cheers!
