The Cranky Man

As I get older,
I find myself less inclined
to any grace and tolerance
towards those
who show none for others.

I teeter-totter on the edge,
berating lack-of-indicators,
swearing at pedestrian-ignorers,
fist-waving mobile phone drivers,
and large battering-pram walkers.

As I get older,
I find myself more justified
in my personal ire
towards those
who engender stupidity.

I swing back and forth,
verbally menacing bible-bashers,
stultifying narrow-minders,
vituperating rude-schoolers
and selfish egress blockers.

As I get older,
I find myself more angered
by my lack of control
towards those
who exhibit none of their own.

I spin around-about,
castigating queue jumpers,
remonstrating rude servers,
before profusely apologising
and leaving embarrassed.

As I dizzily stagger
from one day to the next;
from one rage to the next;
I am grateful for my passion,
regardless of where its directed.

Don't be so cranky Maso! Hell's bells! I read it! (and found it on the money as usual, too  ;)  )

Considering this poem got an editors pick award at another site, I was quite surprised when it completely slipped under the radar here.  Still, I should know this by now.

I sure do appreciate you reading it mate and don't worry, I'm not really this cranky. :)

Well, mate you should know by now I'm usually lagging behind here.

Cranky is alright as long as it's directed towards stupid people or the cranky man has passion.

Congrats on the editor's pick award. :CONGRAT:

Chris,

I always thought it was me who was lagging behind (even though my clock is ahead of yours - how does that work?).  Anyways, I'm really not this cranky at all although the types of people described do annoy me.

Thanks for the congrats too.
