mods problems

so i decided to check out some of the available mods to spice up the game a little, and when i tried to install them i found i had no Mods folder. i then went online where i was told to show my hidden files to find the folder, yet it still doesn't exist. i tried making my own folder and that doesn't work... any suggestions?

Update the game, prior to 1.02 the game had no Mods folder and no mod support ;)

Okay then, do you have the path and is the Mods folder the only thing missing, or you don't have anything in the path at all?

I found mine by doing a file search. If you are using Vista like me, then you need to goto C:\Users\

i have everything but the mods folder in the path including my saved games ect. in game, when i click on Mods, it shows the path to be to the Mods folder in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire. i even just reinstalled the latest patch.

i use xp.

That's really odd. However, if the game has the Mods button and points to the path, you should just be able to create the folder and then drop stuff in.

Sins is pretty simple with mod recognition, there's really nothing fancy about the Mods folder itself, it's just where the game looks for them.

Try creating it and installing a mod (make sure it's compatible with the latest update, old mods tend to have issues).

I don't think I've ever heard of people having the latest patch, but no Mods folder though. Strange!

Sorry, I re-read the OP and noticed you said you did try creating your own already. Did it not show any mod in it?

The way the structure is set up, the game reads folders as the mod names, so for your mod to show up it needs to be in its own folder, for example ...\Mods\MyMod would show up as MyMod ingame, and that would need to contain the respective GameInfo/String/whatever else folders for the mod.

So also make sure you extracted the mod correctly after creating the folder.
