Regarding Resolution

Seems as if everytime I play a game which I use a lower resolution that that of the desktop's that I have to reset the docks because always seem to be pushed around to different spots (i am guessing because the smaller resolution s just pushing them into the space it has available)

Just was wondering if there was a way to cause this from happening so that I don't have to fiddle with the docks after everytime I game on a smaller resolution.
