Quick Terror World question

I've created enough tech that I can now create TERROR STARS (insert Death Star or other appropriate music here) but one problem: my TERROR STARS can't attack. Is there additional tech (beyond what it takes to build the TS) that increases speed and gives it planet-attacking ability? If so, what tech is that?

Thanks ya'll.

There's actually several parts to a Terror Star. The first technology you gain on that route only allows you to build (if I remember rightly) the _shell_ of a terror star. Not the whole star.

You've still got some researching and building to do.

Hrm. Well my Star is actually a full "shell" now, and can actually move 1 square a round. It's not just a shell or a starbase with "pointy parts" ie Terror Shell-under-construction. I guess I'm asking if there's more to a Terror Star then building the full, moving Star.

You might have to get the planet destruction tech, its up the terraforming branch on the way to tech victory.

and you have to move your TS until it reaches the star system sou want to...ehh ... vaporise. But at 1/turn it can take forever. And don't forget to have a strong fleet defending your TS. A ring of dreads around it is better than a stack I think.
Now, good luck and be patient, it will eventually get where you want it... ;)

By the way, I'm not sure you need any aditionnal tech once you have completely built the terror star.

Definitely defend your TS. They seem to be higher on the hit list for AIs compared to even systems.

Don't fleet your TS with your escort. U will get a bug that screws up the TS movement.

To add something to RayChua post, "don't fleet your TS with the scort" if you don't want to cheat (the terror star might get as many movements as the ships, in my game where it happened it had 6 moves until I realised what was going on).

It almost seems it'd be faster to pile up constructors and escorts near your victim and build your Terror Star there, rather than painfully waiting for one to cross half of a huge galaxy...

Yes Twirlip, it can be a lot faster that way, provided you have the moneu aside when the constructors reache their desination.

Terror stars are only a preference, not an efficient option to win (I love playing evil, but have only once used them to destroy star systems). If you have enough resources to build and protect a TS as it creeps through enemy territory, laying waste to their planets, then you have more than enough resources to attack with more traditional resources and actually take their planets (and production) vs. obliterating them.

Now...if they were more useful, say you only have to blow up one planet in a system, making an "example" of them, to get all other in the sector to convert over to you (shouldn't it be used more as a tool of "terror" to keep people in line rather than destroy them?). As it is, they do nothing that I can see but take away from your potential power (and score).

Personally, I have only used Terror Stars to move my Pary Palaces across Sector borders. A culture-starbase the AI objects to, but a Terror Star they don't...

Well the AI doesn't have quite as much leverage if you're only a few parsecs away from destroying their star systems. :)

You can't attack ships with terror stars, and there's no tech or anything that upgrades it to allow it.

Load your Terror Star up with the other military modules to give your escort ships a sizable advantage.

I've never really used Terror Stars. I thought of once just for fun. But I was then culturally assimilating systems faster than the Terror Star could travel!!!
