Mission Guides?

Im currently working my way through the campaign on DA, ive been scrolling through the forums but havent found anywhere that has a guide to beat each level, is there such a thing?

If not, perhaps someone could enlighten me on the Achillie's Heel Mission. Small map, yourself and 3 allies against the Dread Lords, dont die, take the one planet the Dread Lords start with, Cakewalk difficulty.

The Torians nip round and steal all the planets. The Arcaens sit with one planet researching immense weapons they then give to the allied but wont let you have for the world even with great diplomacy and lots of other trade and gifts. The Altarians just produce loads of transports which the Dread Lords continuously pop. Trade Routes continuouly revoke. The Ai lets the Dread Lords systematically take all the planets, the allies put up little defence, any ships i create get crushed and then im repeatedly hit with transports until i surrender.

Its on Cakewalk and i still get thrashed, help!

Here's one reply, but it may not be what you'd expect.

I don't play Campaigns (well, maybe just one or two when i got DL out of curiosity)... since, i use sandbox mode 98% of the time while i develop multiple MODs for this game.

And, if there isn't any help from others *yet* (four days are barely a week, btw!) maybe it's just because everyone is hooked up to TA or couldn't be bothered telling somebody else HOW to play their own games.
The trick with Campaigns is just that you ---must--- enjoy your own solutions for winning rather than having anyone spoon-feeding it to you.
I believe that's the purpose of any games; to HAVE your fun while you actually paid for it.

Otherwise, going from Cakewalk to even just Tough difficulty level in any sandbox games would have you drop this stuff never to return to it outa frustrations. Tackling a challenge takes guts.

fair enough, i dont want someone talking me through it step by step, id just like some general pointers on how to beat a level thats stupidly out of proportion with anything else ive met so far.

Kay - then, here's a trick for that particular one; some Diplomatic deals can go a loooong way into submitting the Dread Lords. Meaning, you really can't go at it alone unless your military edge goes VERY rapidly above everyone else's.

personally I'm a little dissapointed with the campaign...

you'd think they could come up with more interesting scenarios other than.

"Rush to capture planet "x" before you run out of cash"

I need advices for the mission where you have to ally with the iconians ( Mission 5 i think, unless i missed some ). I play at Painful and had an easy time on previous missions. Now however I am frustrated because i cant get my relation with the iconian past the friendly level , even though i try hard with trade, gifts, treaty etc... It seems i have many "+" and few "-" in the relation report but still cant make it. In fact my only "-" are from militaristic and alignment, while i have 5 "+". Any of you knows the trick to get through this kind of mission ? Or for that matter, the requierement to achieve Close relations with another civilisation ? I usualy play as your compulsively expensionist evil civilization and do not find myself at home with these "Lets be friends" type of scenario. Any help would be greatly appreciated because i fear i'll get mad at something if i keep not knowing what to do. And that would be a shame, right ?

HI,

I'm currently searching the forums for an answer to this very question EvilMaxWar !
I've tried this mission several times already
- first time i did not read the objectives (doh!) and figured something was going wrong after having the drengins surrender to me and the game not ending
- second time I went all diplomacy and influence, going the "good" way as I noticed this race seemed to be good too ... I ended up laying influence starbases next to their planet and conquering them by culture, but although the objectives seemed to imply that this would qualify, it didn't end the game ....

Still looking ...

if anyone ever looks for the same answer : In the Hearts and Minds mission you need BOTH assimilate the Turans AND crush the drengins

I feel your pain

I am having the same exact problems. I have tried different strategies but still cannot figure it out.

As for me this thread is not talking about the missions I was blocked on.
Mine was Hearts and Minds (3rd or 4th of the campaign), and I managed it by both assimilating the Turans by influence AND wiping the drengins.

Thanks for the pointer though, it's sure to be usefull when I reach this stage

I am stuck at the mission conflagration. The mission states that I need to capture a certain planet (du'toth)and find the missing shard. Which I did but nothing happens I am holding out for at least 7 to 8 turns before the dread lords take back the planet.

I don't know if this is a bug or that I am doing something wrong but what else can I do?

Keep in mind that on cakewalk your ALLIES are the stupid ones. The Dread Lords might be just as dumb but i believe they start with great weapons.

Its no wonder the allies you had were acting as you described.

End of quote

Re-check the spelling. There is a planet with spelling VERY close to what you need in the sector right before your target.

Your target will be a Dread Lord planet, I think you took a Korath planet.

Thx that was it indeed. You a du'toth and a dutoth and both were from the dread lords (i checked it again)
