secondary connect

I just got multiplicity pro today. It works great with all my pc's even vista!! One of my computers will only work as a primary and will not connect as a secondary. if I sub out the right compuer with my notebook the middle pc does it all ok. Something must be set wrong in my xp home pc. I turned off the firewall and still  the primary can't connect. All network funtions are ok.

after 4 hours I am ready to ask for help!                Thanks

first be sure to have the same multiplicity version installed on both computer connected.
then on xp computer (as it seems to be the source of your problems) enable xp firewall, and in his properties (the avanced tab) look in the list of port if the port called "Multiplicity Port" usually 30564 is enable.
Check also the line "Stardock Multiplicity (Primary)" be sure it point to "Multipl.exe" and "Stardock Multiplicity (Secondary)" to "MultiSrv32.exe"
Usually:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\ThinkDesk\Multiplicity\MultiSrv32.exe
and
C:\Program Files\Stardock\ThinkDesk\Multiplicity\Multipl.exe

I seen this 'same version' remark a few times now.
Does that apply to major versions or minor too?

e.g: 1.21.017 will not connect with a machine that has 1.21.020

Or does it just mean 1.21.xxx does not work with 1.20.xxx?

In any other Stardock app I'd say it makes no difference . . but for MP .. I'd make sure the files in the MP directory were exactly the same.

You must have the same exact version installed on both machines
so if you have 1.21.020 on both it's ok if you have 1.21.017 and 1.21.020 that won't work unfortunately

best is to use Impulse on your machines to get the last updates on both. Like that it's simple. you got an update on one of your PC then you run impulse (and the updates) in all of them and all is good

Ok I solved my problem, Thanks to all of you who replied. I had deleted the firewall im my CA internet suite. But when I turned off windows fire wall it said ca firewall was running???? I reinstalled CA firewall and then turned it off. now it works fine. also I updated the software to the troubled secondary only. not to the primary and other secondary. it still works fine. same version needed may not always apply. Now I can tell you all. this works fantastic!!! 3 computers 1 mouse, 1 key board. I run xp home, media, pro and vista and all seem to be happy. good luck to you all. when it works it seems it was worth the trouble. thanks again
