Cheat codes for TA?

I really hate to ask for cheat codes and believe me I never thought about needing them for GalCiv at all, but I have found myself in an extremely annoying situation. A couple of turns ago the Terrans were able to acquire a Precursor-Ranger featuring ridiculously high weapon and armor stats which I will never be able to vanquish given the annoying technology-inflation feature so many are complaining about. What Iam wondering about in the first place is why those AI-Rangers are packed with absolutely lethal weaponry whereas my Rangers are but equipped with flimsy ballistic cannons and armor.

Doing a little research I only came across some cheats from the original GalCiv II like the Ctrl-Shift-W to make enemy ships defect to my race. In order to activate the cheats the instuctions tell me to create a shortcut of the TA-exe and add "cheat" in the properties menu. Thing is I'm using Vista and for some reason I always get an error message as soon as I try to alter the something in the properties.

So my questions are:

Does this work in TA at all? If so how do I make it work in Vista? If not, does anybody have an idea how to get this #*@!! ship out of my game? Tell you the game was the best I've ever played and now for no fucking reason an invincible Ranger is rampaging through my galaxy. Damn frustrating.

AFAIK, all or most previous cheat-codes do work in TA (maybe, there's a few more which have yet to be revealed, though).

As for the challenge, i feel your pain - it IS soooo hard to loose when luck could do worst.

Vista? I'm on XP-SP2 Pro, sorry. I doubt there isn't a way to slap the usual tags to a runtime call through an exe though. If not - sue M$.

Thanks guys. Interesting to fiddle with the mega event-generator...
