No Conntection - Primary says disconnected in Tray / But troubleshooting tells no errors

Hey there.

I think MP is a great tool but I just bought it and it's just very weird ... I've got it running on 2 Vista Business Edition (German) machines. They are connected via LAN, both got a specified IP. When installing it first time, it absolutely worked fine. After setting it up, the primary machine detected the connection and everything was just fine.

Now, after rebooting the primary machine, there is no way to restablish the connection. Troubleshooting told me on the primary machine everything should work correctly. On the secondary, it says that the Winlogon dll is not running.

I tried to Telnet the secondary with the response "MULTIPLICIT2" and after that connection to telnet port 30564 is closed by remote.
Netstat on the secondary told me that the port 30564 is on listening.
Disabling the windows Firewall also does not seem to help.

I installed the latest Versions via the Stardock Central.
Please help me.

so far. Cheers.
Sebastian.

I have the same issue, but never connected in the first place. When I troubleshoot the primary pc, it says it has no problem connecting to the secondary, but never actually connects. It says to run troubleshoot on the secondary machine, which I do, but find no pertinent information. Telnet to the secondary machine returns the correct response, so I'm a bit baffled. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you ...
The support is weak, i've just got to say that. Now more than 3 weeks went by without a reaction from stardock execpt of the "We need 2 Days to reply"-Answer. I am starting to get pissed.

BTW: Try the freeware "Synergy" - bit tricky to set up but it works at least!

You've created a case?  Can you post the case #?

It sounds like MP hasn't been told to connect to anything.

Did you install this via Impulse or via a standalone installer or via SDC?

How are you connecting?  By IP or PC name?  Any difference if you switch?

I am facing the same problem. I have Vista on one PC and XP on my laptop. Installed MP on both but was not able to connect right from the start. When i click on Troubleshoot option, primary says it is able to connect to secondary and secondary shows all dll's running. Please help me to connect both systems.

Thanks.

OK guys i've solved my problem of the primary being disconnected , the address for the secondary as shown on the primary PC was different to that shown on the secondary PC it was shown as 10.1.1.4 and it should have shown as 10.1.1.2 when i changed it all was connected.I hope this helps.

I had the same issue, until i stoped using the software as i never got a responce from support.

I run vmware (i think it was on my primary - might of the been the secondary can't remember now), but when ever i had more then one network up on a machine (once again can't remember if it was the primary or secondary) it wouldn't connect, but once i disconnected the extra networks (so only the primary lan connection is enabled) and it works again. Not sure if this has been fixed, but i'd doubt it, it was aroun 6-9 months ago.

this sounds like my issue also. I have a Vista box talking to an XP laptop over ethernet. Often I have to use the wizards to get them to talk. Then once they are connected and I move over to the second machine (XP) the connection disconnects.

I get constant disconnects and reconnects. IPs are explicitly defined. Now on the Vista box I do on occasion fire up VMWARE.

Wonder if the Vmware drivers give MP problems.  This really should be addressed and this is not a cheap piece of software.
