AVG anti-virus prog. and IE

I have the first version of AVG anti-virus that you can purchase, one step up from the free version.  Ever since I installed it I have been getting a "NOT RESPONDING" error message when the AVG program is loaded this message comes up at different times while on the internet using IE.  Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

What version of IE? What OS are you using?

Do you have another browser to try and see if you get the same problem?

Have you tried the AVG forums to see the problems has been identified?

Since you have a paid version of AVG I would think you should be able to get online help, have you tried that?

It maybe something as simple as a setting in AVG. I use AVG version 8, the free version.

Are you using the new version 8 of AVG?

No problem, sorry couldn't be more help.

I'm using IE7 on a XP Home system with SP3, and as I mentioned the free version of AVG 8. I haven't seen any problems yet. It maybe associated with functions in the paid version that are not in the free version.

What ever you find out will no doubt help others members of the community. Hope you find a fix.

It's a known issue....turn off AVG Web and Link scanners. The 'non-responsive' error has also been associated with a corrupted IE install.

yrag I can find the "link" scanner icon which I can disable, I see nothing about a "web" scanner but I do have a icon that says "web shield". Is this the correct web scanner file you mentioned in your earlier reply

Thank you for any help

End of quote

Run the AVG installer you used to install AVG. In the options menu after it executes you can opt to un-install Web Shield.
