WinCustomize is $19.95, but costs $29.95 on checkout!

I tried to renew my Wincustomize account, because I am willing to spend $19.95 for this year. However, when I checked out I noticed that the price was $29.95 suddenly! Without notice I almost bought a renewal for $29.95, which is too much for only one year. Please, Stardock, clarify this problem for me!

New post should be appearing soon explaining all.

If you read the news on the home page it explains:

WinCustomize subscriptions about to get sweeter

The budget has been approved to start giving away quite a bit of content to WinCustomize subscribers. None of this 2 suites per year stuff but rather a fairly steady trickle of content. The stand-alone subscription price is gonna end up like $29.95 but there will be bundles with our various programs at a steep discount for WC subscriptions.

Is that what was in the store at the time? $19.95? If it were then he should get it for $19.95. If he couldn't that's wrong. I see it's $29.95 in the store now. That's the way it should be. If I am in a store and the price that is displayed is wrong I usually get it for the displayed price even if it means seeing the store's manager. That's only fair. :)

Well my current subscription goes through Oct 10, 2010 so I will have time to look at this new stuff.

I went back and read Brad's Frogblog. Sounds very interesting.

Will a renewal still cover 2 years, or does anyone know that info yet?

There's a difference in a mistake on a price tag and misleading a customer.

It's nice that a retailer gives you the lower price . . but it's not "fair".  "Fair" is charging what the market will support (or what you think it will).  What you describe is "good customer relations" and is a different ball of wax (if they are selling wax).   :D

I have been updating prices and information pages through the morning to make sure all the prices match up.

You happened to be going through the site as I was making all the updates.  I apologize for the confusion.

If you're still seeing the 19.95 price listed somewhere, please let me know.  I've hit all the pages on my list, but there may be an old old old reference somewhere we've forgotten about.

Sounds like a really good deal, and well worth $30/yr. I'll get it as soon as I get to Chicago (yay, moving).

Well I listened to Episode 3 of SkinCast and got my answer. ;)

Thanks for clarifying. However, I will not buy a subscription for this price. Since in previous years most stuff that was under this subscription was in a scale from not useable to very ugly. Only for those sparse good posts the price of $29,95 is just too high.

Besides, I do think it should be $19,95. Since that was the price that was on the price tag. It's strange to only find out it was much more expensive while checking out. In a normal shop the customer has a right to buy it for the lower price, since the price on the tag could be the normal price.

Well, Stardock can choose:
- I buy another year for $19,95
- I do not buy anything
You have my email.

btw: I only saw a one year subscription, not more. But this is stated in the web site.

The price has increased because we are now also offering $60 in Stardock skins each year.  If that's not worth the extra $10 to you, I can't argue the point really.

Either way, we don't haggle on product prices.  Like I said, you happened to catch it in that brief window while everything was being updated the other day.  There was no intention to deceive.

There probably was no intention to deceive but if the price was listed as 19.95 then he should get it for 19.95. That's the American way. It's not his fault you guys didn't have the price changed. Intentional or not that's false advertising my friend. Like it or not that's what it is and you should do right by anyone who saw it as 19.95. Please don't go on about how much you get etc etc because that's not the point. Do the right thing, give the guy the subscription for what it was advertised for. :)
