Cursor FX crashes

I loved Cusor xp and I like cursor fx, unfortunately, every time I try to change cursors the program stops responding and won't start again until I close through task manager and restart. Any ideas? I'm running Vista premium. I've tried running as an administrator and running in xp2 compatiblity mode neither helped.
