My Colors

I'm a bit confused about My Colors. On Imlulse it said free version. So I decided to install it. There is nothing to use on it as it wants a serial number. I realize you have to purchase skins for it but because it said free version thought it would have a couple with it. Also thought it was part of Object Desktop 2008 Ultimate. Would someone br kind enough to explain if it can be used or not without purchasing a special skin? If this is the case why even permit it as a download. Programs listed as a free version such as this one let you do something with them. Thank you.

the download on Impulse should be the same version that is offered at cnet (Download.com) and as such, it SHOULD come with either the Diamond Theme (offered with the latest version I believe) or the Quest Theme, but it will only be one of them.

When you run MyColors, you should have the option to apply whatever theme was included and installed as part of the MyColors download.

Following the Diamond link on the free gallery takes you to CNet, and it looks like (?) that download would want to install MyColors again. Does a person want to do that? I've just very recently asked support about this, if you can get DaveBax and I straightened out at the same time I'll send them a "never mind".

DaveRI if it will help you any I downloaded MyColors through Impulse and then downloaded Diamond throught the CNet link. Just checked and I don't have MyColors installed twice. If I open the MyColors theme manager I have Diamond, Quest, Windows XP and Magic which was just updated late last week. I haven't downloaded anything else, just starting to look at MyColors. ;)

My understanding is that MyColors will detect what you have and only install needed components (very much like SDC has always done).

You should be good to go!

Yep, it worked. The Diamond theme was a little cranky with Icon Packager at first (crashed it), but after a couple of re-boots and theme switches it straightened itself out (is this thing "self-healing" :LOL: ) and I just mention it here in case DaveBax runs into it.

Thanks guys, didn't want to botch it all right up front. Off to send "Never Mind" to support.
