Annoying apps claiming system resources

- has me irked today

So, today I got a new mouse. Nothing special...just a logitech wireless thingy. What has me baffled, is the fact that it came with an installation CD, despite the fact that it works perfectly well "out of the box".

Why is it that modern PC's tend to be filled up with hundreds of small apps that all want to run at start-up time, making your computer just that little bit slower each time you install something new?

Now, thankfully, I can think for myself, and I quickly discover such apps, and uninstall as soon as I find them, but, as I said...this irks me. I pity the user who has no idea what goes on in his PC, and thus has to live with a gazillion small apps that don't help him, but still hog system resources.

QFT.

My little sister got a computer hand-me-down from my father, and he just reformatted and reinstalled from the partition, so it was chock-full of bloatware. It took me all day just to clean it up enough so I could actually get to the 'installing essential applications' part.

GRRRRRRRR . . .
