Metaverse Submission problems

As some of you have pointed out to us the Metaverse submissions have not been working for the last two days. The problem has been corrected and all the scores that were submitted were placed in a queue and I am currently processing that queue so your scores should show up shortly.

Sorry for the headaches.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I will now eat my words of doubt about the Metaverse submission problem not being fixed too promptly with hot sauce. Ow Ow!

But, you wonderful guys are still on the hook for the generally primitive and non-intuitive way of how the game handles Metaverse submissions. (As in the need to already be connected and the lack of success or failure messages.) ;)

Great job, apology accepted :) I hope you'll look at putting a log-file or such in place for submissions so that future bug reports can be a bit better than "Is metaverse submission not working?"... help us help you :)

Hmm, speaking of the metaverse how many people are actually registered and submitting scores? Is this published anywhere?

Thanks for correcting the problem. Points calculation is still nuts, though. LOL There is a guy named Technician with rank 47 or so, who has never played above Beginner level. :D

All that matters for the score is playing on Gigantic, and you get an enormous score, no matter how weak the opposition. For winning a Challenging game on Small or Tiny, you get practically nothing. Size matters, or something. ;p

I noticed that at one time T-man had a ranking of #1
with a score of 4,444,444. Most impressive. ;)

There seems little difference scorewise between Tough,
Painful, and Crippling. And the easy to do Tech victory
gets you a bundle of points.

"There seems little difference scorewise between Tough,
Painful, and Crippling."

That is not the worst about score calculation. What really ticks me off is that Beginner on Gigantic gives you 10times more pts than Challenging on Tiny. :notsure:

The only reason we grip is because we've come to expect such great support. We all really appreciate it, make no mistake.

As for you tiny galaxy folks, dont' be fooled: size does matter...

just a suggestion for the metaverse submission ( the submit screen just after the AAR at the end of a game ): after clicking the submit button, we should be informed if the score is correctly registered OR failed because of a cheat or corruption.

That's a "long-standing" suggestion, Marcus. When the game was released and the Metaverse was being flakey, myself and others pointed out that a simple success/failure popup would be incredibly useful. I think it's one of the few (good) suggestions that has been utterly ignored with no explanation... :notsure:

T-man,
Just wanted to know, how long does it take for scores to show up? I had a 3403 score and submitted it twice after reading some of the problems off the boards. Has mine even gotten to you? I have no problem submitting it again. Just was wondering.

Are new submissions delayed until you get caught up? I just submitted my 3rd game late last night (well, actually about 2 this morning) and it hasn't shown up yet. I'll wait to hear back before I try to submit it again.

The website doesn't seem to have a button for uploading my game, nor was there one within the game. I'm running v 1.03. Although I enjoyed the game, I'm not too happy about having to download "improvements" - I spent half a day finding a store that had your game in stock, shelled out $40, only to find out that it was already "obsolete." Everything worked fine out of the box, but now with version 1.03 I have no sound or animation within the game. I saved my games frequently, and New Save Game should be the one right before I hit the turn button to win. Now when I try to reload it, it says I'm only at 98% for Cultural Domination -- should say zero months to go. I also don't like the waythe game automatically advances turns to the next month before I click the turn button. I'll be trying to analyze what to put on a planet and where to get $$$ for it, when boom, I click next, or done, or even just the galaxy map and suddenly I'm in the red and colonists are mad because it's now the following month and they're still stuck breathing amonia 'cause I didn't click rush-buy a habitat improver quick enough. I thought this was a turn-based, not real-time game. At least that's what *I* paid for. And how do I get those darn planet and ship screens to stop popping up when I click on the map or whatnot...I can't analyze strategy if I can't see what I was looking at a second ago, and the dang thing won't go away. ARG! All in all, I'd give the game a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1 to 10....but please fix these problems, and make it so I can upload my game, please...

just played a game to see if my score would show up, it did not. I have registered as a player with a valid id. any ideas?

As soon as the score screen comes up, tab out, get online, make very sure you're online with an active connection, go back to the game, leave the score screen the usual way.

ONLY if you're online at that point will GalCiv bring up the option to submit.

If there is a bug at this point, submit... after making sure you're online ;)

Submission is still a problem. I just finished a game and tried about 20 times to submit it. My metaverse score never changed.

(a) Every one else - he said there may be some lag which he works through the pile of submission - give the guy a break. (PS - mine are up!)
(b) #18 by Citizen Yor Kidding -
- if you are connected to the internet when you end the game, you should see the SUBMIT screen as the last thing before it goes back to the original new/load/credits screen. If you don't, the game doesn't know you are connected to the internet. Alt-Tab, use the web, adn then come back - should now be good.
- if you don't want the improvements, thats up to you. I do, and I am grateful for them.
- when it says "98% for Cultural Domination" etc, this is fuzzy, not precise. Get used to it.
- On the turn button - configure the option to not do "auto" end of turn, and you will have what you want.

Ah, but my latest game wasn't part of the pile of submissions that didn't go through. It's new, but still did not get posted. That implies that the problem is not fully corrected, which is worth noting.

i haven't been able to submit either... i've checked and re-checked my connection, my logon info, etc... all to no avail. would the fact that i'm using library mods affect my submission?
