JUWC: Short and sweet (or sour or angry or funny or...)

Thanks to Beebles for the idea

Inspired by both DeathbyBeebles and Tova (and at both Tova and UDig's insistence), here is the next challenge for the JU Writers Club.

The idea is to write a story in 6 words.  I know it sounds like a hard thing to do (and believe me, it is).  But not everything challenging is easy.  If you want to see a few good examples, check out Beeble's post here:

http://deathbybeebles.joeuser.com/article/308581/My_Six_Word_Story

It is a tough exercise, no doubt.  But here is fair warning: if you stray beyond the word limit, you will suffer the full wrath of the Jabberwock, bwwaaaahhahahahahaa, cough, cough, ahhaahahah...  ha.

As per usual, once you've exhausted yourself creating your individual masterpieces (or is that masterpieci?), drop a link into this post so everyone else can marvel at your succinct verbosity.

Here are a few to get you started:

Spinning uncontrollably, he witnessed time passing (extra points for guessing what this is an extremely condensed version of...)

Rage inspired an anguished widow's revenge

It was either prison or the army

Left to his devices, he created

Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Oh HELLS yeah. I love trying to fit my big stuff in small spaces.

Um . . . never mind. I didn't just say that.

Perfect thing to start my day.

Here's the few I left on Al's (Beebes') post:

"Betrayed, and death came unto them."

"Love evoked, caused us to blossom."

"Anger took us, pain our fuel."

If I think of any more, I'll just post'em here. I don't know if an article is even worth it unless I think of a score of these. :P

You can also do "summaries" of books too, if you're not feeling poetic or inspired.

Their world was changed by lies. - "Atonement" by Ian McEwan

Remember, the enemy's gate is down. - "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card

One lost leg, one last chance. - "Slow Man" by J.M. Coetzee

SanCho,

  You can keep that story to yourself.

Zoo,

I don't know if an article is even worth it unless I think of a score of these.

One is better than none.  Besides, it might spur you to write something else.  As Beebles said, these are great for juicing up the Muse.

Beebles,

Your summaries are absolutely spot on (although I don't know "Ender's Game" but I take it you do).  Did you get mine? (It is a bit obvious).

Obscure passage, illuminating modification.

Suicide affliction, forlorn duration.

Butterfly snaps, changes the world.

Can't write these things.:(

Oh, I don't know about that... You did a decent job with those you've offered up. In fact, in the first two, you only used four words. I found it hard enough limiting myself to six.

Perhaps...hmm.

I'll use one word.

"Conflict."

Heh, heh. ;)

Obvious maybe, but a wonderful statement nonetheless.

WTF?!?!?!? You, my friend, have never read Ender's Game?

That's unacceptable, Mark.

As soon as I get back home to the states, I'm mailing you a copy. And you will read it.

And you'll freakin' love it.

I do, actually. I thought about the fact that we had done it before, but I couldn't remember who had proposed it last time. Good thing you popped by, Gene!

Now just do it more often!

Oops, well spotted.  But you have to know, those that make the rules aren't subject to the rules.  Didn't I say that already?  How remiss of me.

No, I haven't...  So many books, so little time.  And I do like a good scifi story.

Thanks mate.  At that recommendation, how could I not.  Looking forward to it already.

I do now :)  Oh well, it is such a great challenge, it could do with a redux.

I shouldn't say anything since mine will probably break the rules, too. ;)
