ouch guys. i'm a windows fan myself, but hey, lets not flame others here. cool it. this guy has a perfectly viable inquiry. granted he didn't use the search function, there's no reason to flame him anymore. this is really disappointing to see the community acting biasdly towards a minorty of Mac, Unix and Linux users. Unless i'm missing somthing, there's no need to flame more.

oh, and a final note:
communits are actually democrats. I hate it when i see propaganda working. Karl Marx is regarded as the father of communism, and his original purpose for it was a government run BY THE PEOPLE, and FOR THE PEOPLE. Essientally our system, but without Capitalism, no rich, corrupt officals, no discrimination, no power in the hands of a few. The people would rule. This is what the founding fathers wanted, to a more advanced level.

During the early 1900s, Vladimir LLych Ulanov took control of Russia. He began to move towards a Totalitarian State of government. Here's where it went wrong.

Then Joeseph Stailn took control. He murdered his political enemies, and established a complete Totalitarian Government. He falsely coined it Communism, as Hitler coinned Aryans (an idoitc mistake). His government began murdering masses of civilians, and all the power was concentrated in HIS hands. The exact OPPOSITE of Marxism.

As he gained power, other nations followed suit. They used the same form of government as Stalin, and also called it Communism, ex. North Korea, China.

In summation, our current public definition of Communism is, in reality, Totalitarinism. Propaganda has taught us that Communits are evil, and deny the rights of the people. This is a major error. Communism is closer to Democracy than to a Anarchy.

sorry for that, its just I get bugged by my history teacher, who is anti-communist, and full of propaganda.

*note, i'm not a communist. I'm a Militarist.

When I see posts like UEF soldiers, my hope in humanity rises a little bit. Then I read posts by people like Uranium-235 and I go home and cry myself to sleep. U-235 is right about the casual environment but forgets to mention than linux can run on ANYTHING(no seriously, I have seen it in remote controls(TV remote controls) and watches). Also the fact that linux is the prime choice for distributed computing. For gaming I agree go pick up windows XP but linux is anything BUT useless. UEF hit the spot Karl Marx SPECIFICALLY said for communism to succeed capitalism must run its course.

final note: UEF I havent seen much linux flaming on this forum.

For the record my previous post complimenting U-235 in the orbiting thread was refering to his tone and willingness not to mince words for that specific opinion and does not apply to this thread.

@ maheshjr2004
well, Uranium-235 did state that open-source commies make him mad, and linux does have many open source versions.

linux is very handy (though i don't use it, no need), and can do many things windows can't. It is also more secure, faster, and versatile than windows.

yay for rasing hope in humanity!!! but alas, we make up a small fraction of people in the world, and tough i'm usually an optimist, but my faith in humanity is also pessimisitc.  :SNIFF!:

Sorry but i have to point out that communism is not a form of government at all its a socio-economic system. Democracy is a form of government (although the USA is a republic).

Almost all countries that are labled as communist or socialist as there form of governance are actually totalitarian or totalitarian oligarchies.

i hope this clears things up.

Lords point is completely valid as it is a socio-econimic system that really is different than compared with a governanace system. I think russia still was a "democracy" or "republic" even though the same party was always elected.

Ah man, if only my parents had bought the external floppy drive for our 64/128.

russia was and to some extent still is a totalitarian oligarchy. There is absolutely no chance of the few people who control the economic resources in russia ever being out of control there.

man you guys sure are a hateful bunch. to the original poster, if you're still even interested, the game runs beautifully using Bootcamp and Windows XP on any Mac made in the last year or two. I'm currently running on an 24" Imac with everything on High, no lag, no glitches, perfect. probably getting better performance on my "joke" of a mac than most of the people who are insulting you for asking a question.

SoaSE-the T-shirt, SoaSE-the Coloring Book, SoaSE-the Lunch box, SoaSE-the Breakfast Cereal, SoaSE-the Flame Thrower!

So you got the T-shirt but you need the rest of these THEN you can do SoaSE for Mac!

Hey THEMISSING, well said. Not only are they a hateful bunch, but all the jibs and jabs about C64/Vic20. floppies, etc., seems to hint of a certain "nervous" laughter, perhaps based upon a real fear of the current crop of Mac systems as serious OS and hw platform contenders. Too bad they have to go on the attack. This thread was not started by an attack on MS/Windows, unless simple interest in, and use of, another OS is itself threatening for some reason. The only way I can understand that is as a reaction based on insecurity and defensiveness.

As was mentioned, there was a thread on this previously, they don't have plans to do it. Its pretty expensive for a game like this if you don't plan on doing it from the beginning, unfortunately. (Almost everything in software is like that, the earlier on you decide to do something, the easier/cheaper it is.)

Actually doing a mac port with cider is not that expensive. It is not as performant either as it would be not a native port as cider transforms your windows api calls to os x api calls. You just have to test your game on another plattform, which is again not as bad as it sounds as the macs are pretty homogeneous plattform.
