Server version?

Any chance of a non graphics server version for hosting only?

For people like myself with mulitple pc's could we have a server version of the game so we could setup and host games independently from playing in them?

This means that when playing and game is slowing due to graphics the host server is still unaffected and will still serve with good ping to all the players?

SINS is P2P

That means that the entire game simulation is run on each client (all players). There will be no "dedicated server" for sins, as the only added role for a the "host" is that he/she SYNC's all of the players together.

This is also why the slowest cpu/connection in the mix causes slowdown for everyone.

Monk I know in a previous thread you put some really good points regarding P2P and you know your networking........its been a long long time since I was at college doing any kind of networking and now I have my own network, it works I keep it working and I guess I have laxed on the reading side :)

Anyway thankfully in the 3v3 games Ive been in I have had no problems, but what you are saying about the slowest connection causing problems does seem to be a limitation. In saying that now that I think of it I have seen many times where for example a dialup would come on a fast server with a 999 ping and would slow everyone down. I have noticed this many times so I guess the argument is 2 way.

Im okay with what Ive seen so far with P2P(Just have worrys about max players in game and think back to other games P2P setups!) on this game but my concern lies in bigger games , say 8v8 or something? Is that possible or even 6v6? Its just at college we were always told once you get over a few computers connected via P2P the connection becomes unwieldy and unreliable.

As I get better I want to join bigger games and was just wandering in general for people like myself who are joining with a reasnably good PC+20MB(My upload is nothing like that I know but think virgin put it higher lately but still could be better, but its still good as far as home connections go in the UK) broadband does it still run well with maxed players?

Thanks again , once again just curious as to how people are finiding it and Im glad to say I have had no problems hosting either and no minidumps thus far but fingers are crossed lol

Sins supports 10 players max, so 5v5 would be the top. Since the game is not very bandwidth-intensive, any modern system on a typical broadband connection should handle that with ease.
