Just some random questions

Hello all! I have some questions if anyone would care to answer, would be appreciated.AHEM...

  • If you build more communication buildings(advent)does it increase the spread of your influence?
  • My capital ships are often destroyed quickly(even after leveling)are players using some teqhnique I am not aware of as I cannot duplicate with their capital ships.
  • Besides surrendering or rushing your opponent is there a map that lends itself to shorter games?
  • do the last two boxes in the advent tree for strengthening your communication influence(one lets you see whats happening on hostile planets and the other gives you the ability to see where another player's influence is)also boost the strength of your influence or just give the perks mentioned above?

Okay thanks to all who post.

Culture production structures do stack, yes.

Don't send caps out alone--keep a good number of frigates with them, and don't forget about upgrades either.

There are a couple of 1v1 maps that have a larger number of planets than the tiny 'duel' maps. If you browse through them in the list, it will tell you how many planets each has, so you can estimate how long a game would take on them.

False Belief Monitoring and Eyes of the Converted don't give any spread bonus, but they're a branch off the culture line, rather than the end.

To elaborate a little more on culture stacking:

- Culture spread does indeed stack for each broadcast center you build, but allegiance changes are capped at +/- .07/sec.

- The rate of allegiance gain/loss is determined by your culture output (influenced by techs) vs enemy culture output. So, for example, if you're outputting 15 culture and the enemy is outputting 14, you're only barely winning and chances are you're going to have a very slow allegiance drop at the hostile planet. But if you're outputting 30 and he's only got 14, you'll probably get to that -.07 pretty quickly.
