Ship Designs needing most improvement......vote.

My vote for worst design wood be the TEC heavy crusier.....you wait to finally build them and their UGLY! It looks like a WW2 tank! (Sherman) Even the pirates heavy cruiser is nicer looking! Maybe something more like Star Treks Defiant maybe?

Er...

Vasari is best to me, except for THEIR FIGHTERS, WHO ARE SUPER-UGLY. Use them, then try to tell me TEC HC is worse. You can't, can you?

MY VOTE IS FOR VASARI FIGHTER, WHICH IS A WEIRD BIRD-THINGY.

Now that I read that, there is a lot of caps. Sorry.

The Dunov to me looks like a locomotive.

I agree on the Kodiacs. They don't even look like they're meant for space travel in the first place.

Why would you need to make something aerodynamic in Space? To look cool? Tec is all about function. They take a building, lay it on it's side, and put booster rockets on it.

BAM

Spaceship.

Now on to the killing.

lol this thread is funny. Personally, I think all the ship designs look cool.

Have you guys ever seen the Vasari trade ships up close? They look like either(depending on your mindset) a flying banana or a flying wang.

Although one time when I was fighting an invasion fleet in my system I was able to turn on cinematic mode and watch the battle from the viewpoint of my tradeship as it putted over to the trade port, which was nice. I came around the dark side of the planet to be greeted with sunlight and plasma as a large battle raged on nearby, the captain seemingly oblivious of the danger.

the... um... aaa... no i like them all really, though i GUESS i can say the cobalt LF because it doesn't really fit into the whole TEC aesthetic.

The Vasari ship: Konrak Assailant which looks like a space cockroach.

I kind of like the Kodiak, looks like they took a small cargo or space Tug and turned it into a warship. goes with the whole , " Damn we need warships stick guns on everything we got to survive" mentality TEC had in the beginning.

The Karrastra Destructor looks like a sled to me when I see it. Makes me wonder where they hitch the Huskies up to pull it through space.

Also while I like the design of the Aeria drone host, it does not say carrier to me when I see it. Looks more like some kind of shield support ship where the snail shell area would house the generator. Id switch the abilities of the Aeria and the Iconus. With it's wing shaped appearance it looks more like a carrier to me.

I think all the ships look great.

It's funny that someone mentioned the pirate ships look better than the TEC ships. I'd have to agree with this simply because the pirates have some style while the TEC are a bit dry. I think the Advent ships (besides the carrier... although that's more of a personal taste I guess) look fantastic. The Vasari ships look quite good too and have a definite art direction. The TEC are just a little too plain.

Worst ship designs? It's got to be the Vasari capital ships except for the Vulkoras Desolator. The Jarrasul Evacuator is absolutely the worst design in the game.

I'd say the best ship designs go to the Cobalt, Kol, Radiance, Rapture, Disciple, and Destra Crusader.

Akkan Battlecruiser is ugly. Kol Battleship & Sova Carrier is the coolest looking ships I think.

Best is the Kol. Worst has got to be the dunov. I know its supposed to be a converted freighter but holy space bus batman!!

TEC Marza Dreadnought & TEC Kodiak I can't decide which is worse.

Generally speaking Vasari has my favourite designs of ships, though there are good examples in the other races.

I like the evacuator. It would have been cooler had they made the city structure visible (eg. buildings) through a transparent cover, but I'll go for a whale.

I hate all the ships. Except a few Vasari ships and the TEC Strikecraft.
Eh, I'll have to check again, but I thought you COULD see some building structures inside when looking at the ship up close from the top...

Aeria looks weird, but I suppose it's supposed to... That's about it, I love all the other designs.

The Disciple vessels are giant Space Crickets. SPACE CRICKETS! SPACE CRICKETS! I'M GONNA DRAIN ALL YOUR DAMN ANTIMATTER WITH MY FRIGGIN' SPACE CRICKETS!

Advent ships all look great, though why don't the fighters have textures?

Vasari as well (though the Davastator looks like a giga-TIE fighter, but that's a tiny gripe). The Assailant could be tweaked a bit, but it's nothing bad.

The kodiak needs to be redone. Simple as that. It would be fine if all of the guns didn't point the same way. But as it is, that has got to be some of the worst art direction in a space game short of some of my earlier GalCiv 2 monstrosities. Which is a shame, because the rest of the art in the game is fAnTaStIc! [particularly the vasari matter processor and logistical structures].

The Aeria, the Kanrak, and the Vasari fighter=horrible

To tell you the truth, I like all of the art directions of the ships, but the TEC Light Frigate made me chuckle the first game I played. I was zoomed out kinda far looking at a planet and thought that my ship icons were a bunch of dark-blue dildos - made me laugh, but after that I forgot all about it. :D

Anyone dissing the current ship designs should time-travel back to the very first Sins released screenshots. :)

The graphical improvments that have been applied to this evolving game have been astounding. I can't wait until 1.1.
