Huge FPS drop when opponents' messages appear

Ok, here are official SR:
2.2 GHz Dual- or Quad-Core Processor 1 GB RAM (2 GB for Windows Vista) 256 MB DirectX 9 3D Video Card (Radeon X1600 / GeForce 7600 and above)
Ive: Athlon X2 64 4400+, 2GB DDR2 RAM (WinXP), Nvidia GeForce 9600. And I still cant play this game on acceptable level. Normaly game runs smoothly, but when AI message appears, Ive a FPS drop (to about 8-15) utill its gone. This makes whole experience frustrating. Ive other PC (Sempron 2600+, 1GB, GeForce 6600) - same problem there too.
Any suggestions ?

Are you running 1.03? There was an FPS drop issue with text notifications that was resolved in one of the updates.

Yes, I have 1.03

(I got my game and updates from snowball (http://www.snowball.ru/sins/) maybe they screwed up with updates ?

I'm not sure. You can try registering your serial on Stardock Central and downloading it, or maybe the issue wasn't fixed in all cases. I would say try getting it through SDC, if it still displays that behavior toss an email to support@ironcladgames.com and see what they say.

I guess I cant do that with snowball version - different country, very different pricing levels. Here this game (and other) costs 12$, so I guess serials are not equal. But anyway I dont think its version problem.

Um, if you paid a mere 12$ I'm going to guess you got a pirated copy of the game.

The Snowball / 1C version of Sins is legit. However, it's currently best for Russian customers to obtain updates direct from Snowball so they get the latest localization files (we are not providing them).

Russia gets a release but the rest of Europe doesn't.

How... strange. ;p

Oh. Well, that explains why I never heard of Snowball, if its a Russian site :D

I'm going to guess we weren't talking American dollars, but some foreign currency?

No, we are talking about US dollars. But since average person's profit here is about 10 times less than in US, its more advantageous to sell games for a price that people can pay for it, since game copy production is low anyway.

Back on topic: may be there is a way to disable text messages (until they're fixed) ?

I'd still recommend emailing support@ironcladgames.com, because as far as they know it has been fixed. If it shows up for you it's possible they missed something and might be able to figure it out. ;)

But no, there's no easy way to turn off those text notifications. You can open the String file and blank out all those lines, but that'll take a while.

Ok, I have found temporary solution - if turn off AA, these slowdons will disapear.

Damn.. after few hours of playing, slowdowns are becoming pretty annoying again, even with AA off.

I tried uninstalling game and installing it again (both my legal version from snowball, and original stardock version that I got to test this situation)+ corresponding 1.03 patches. Nothing helps.

I'll email this directly to ironcladgames and hope it will be fixed in upcoming updates.
