I just finished a 12 hour session where I was playing against 5 hard computer opponents, like 90 planets, went to the achievements screen, and no new achievements.  What is up with that?? I should have unlocked 3 of the 4 vs hard opponents ( had already beaten vs 1 hard) but instead I got nothing.  Feeling a bit cheated right now.  Still got 19% left to unlock all achievements, so away I go.

Toaster Roaster, Comp Stomper, and Actually HAL, I can do that. Should have unlocked all three of them by defeating 5 hard comp opponents.

If you really think you earnt the achievement and want to display it, its as easy as going into C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\ , opening the achievements file with notepad and change your deserved achievement from FALSE to TRUE. :P

Actually I had a similar issue yesterday where I finished a game against 2 hard AIs and didn't get any of the related achievements. I did end up allied with one of the AIs...is this why the achievements weren't unlocked, because I didn't beat the AI "alone"? If this is the case, can you at least have a ceasefire with one AI and still get credit for Toaster Roaster, etc.?

Nope, to get the achievements you can't do any diplomacy at all :P

Oy, that's rough. What about trade agreements? And do the AIs have to be on the same team for it to count, or you just can't ally with any of them?

Just can't ally with any of them, it can be on FFA. I'm not sure if trade matters or not, but probably safer not to try :P
