Newbie Help

Hi, running Windows Vista 64.

Problem 1 - Stardock Central works with my "paypal" email address but not with my Stardock one.  When I use the option to "cross reference with Stardock Account" I put in the paypal address and get a positive email and prompt but Stardock Central insists on using my paypal address.  Then when it installs stuff, the individual installs complain about having the wrong email address.  I can get success by using the Stardock email address, but it's very annoying..I have done a system restore back to step 0.  Impulse works great but for all is not a skin browser..

Problem 2 - I got lost with the Windows Aero issues.  When I install a windowsblind skin from the web site, everything's fine until reboot, when some of my icons switch to the generic icon and do not recover.  also I cannot use deskscapes.  I understand there is probably a way to skin and keep "Windows Aero" active or do I need to just look for "windows aero compatible" skins?

Heinrich: For your first problem, I would suggest contacting sales@stardock.com. They will be able to help you with this problem. You will want to give them both of your email addresses and if you could write in from your paypal one, that may help.

On the issue with IconPackager, you will want to wait until the next update of IconPackager. This will include support for Vista x64 systems and should run much better for you.

What is happening with WindowBlinds after rebooting? Is the skin no longer applied? If so, do you have any kind of security applications running on your system?
What specifically are you meaning by "...keep 'Windows Aero' active?"

In regards to your DeskScapes problem, are you receiving any kind of an error message? Which version are you running?

1 - Stardock did fix my account. That "cross reference with Stardock Account" is not robust enough for those of us using Paypal at a different address.

2 - An Iconpackager update came out today. Is it safe for me?

3 - The beta version of Deskscapes fixed my issue. With WindowsBlind 6 + Deskscapes I was getting messages to please install Windows Dreamscapes. The beta update fixed that. It was misleading me to think that some skins are Windows Aero and some are not - when actuality Windows Aero is a master switch that seems to work with most/all skins I have downloaded as long as the Windows Vista filter is turned on. A filter I do not seem to have in these other duplicative and confusing products such as Stardock Central / Wincustomize Browser / Impulse
