Constant loss of control in games on primary computer

I've been trying a few pieces of software like Multiplicity, and of them all, Multiplicity seems to work the best. That is except for one fatal flaw. Every few minutes, the primary computer loses input from the mouse in a game after returning control from the secondary computer. I'm using a Vista 32 Home Premium on the primary computer and XP home on the second computer. I'm using version 1.21 of Multiplicity.

I've seen people mention this several times over the last few months, but nothing about a fix. It does not seem to happen with a specific game either, but it's always with a game so far. If I switch to to the secondary computer, sometimes when I switch back, I have no control input from the mouse buttons in the game. I can minimize the game and have full control over the pc until I switch back into the game. I have to close the game and restart to get control back.

I'm currently in trial for this software and I'd like to use Multiplicity. The others seem to have a more stable connection, but are glitchy and Multiplicity is the only one that doesn't pass mouse wheel input to the primary comptuer when controling the secondary. Unfortunatly, having to restart a game every few minutes because I've lost control makes it unusable for me. Has there been any fix or workaround for this problem?

Thank you

I've seen this exact same problem with Warhammer with two XP SP3 machines.  Sucks you've had no reply.

For official support you need to email support@stardock.com

The forums are meant for informal help from the members of the community and occasionally Stardock folks if the happen by.

It is unusall for a post in the forums to not get a reply, must be that no one who has read it had any suggestions for a fix.

Talthazar:

If you run the multipl.exe file as administrator on any Vista machines (primary or secondaries) you should no longer see this issue.  To do this:

-Navigate to C:\Program Files\Stardock\ThinkDesk\Multiplicity
-locate the file multipl.exe, right click and choose 'Properties'
-Click on the 'Compatibility' tab
-Under the Privileged level section at the bottom, check the box that says 'Run this program as administrator'
-Click 'Apply' then 'OK'
-Reboot the machine

This will flag Multiplicity at startup in UAC.  You have a few options here, as unfortunately there is no way to whitelist the app in UAC.

A.) Every time the machine boots, right click on the blocked startup item tray icon and run Multiplicity manually every boot.
B.) Create a .bat file and add it to your startup items that launches multiplicity.  You can simply copy and paste this line into a text file and rename it whatever.bat:

start /d "C:\Program Files\Stardock\ThinkDesk\Multiplicity" Multipl.exe

Once you create the .bat file, add it to the startup folder in your Start Menu.  You'll still be prompted by UAC, but it's much easier to click OK when it's right in your face than a little tray icon that may not be noticed.  Or, if you really want to go all out, you can use TweakVista to have your machine elevate apps without prompting.

StormMage: Haven't really seen much of this on XP.  I'll keep an eye out for your support ticket.

Or you could by-pass UAC alltogether like i do and use

task scheduler instead.. No more UAC prompts for the

startup items.. Here's the link I used to set mine up.

Oh man that run as admin fix looks pretty damn user friendly. batch files and such arent fun.

I very much doubt this does anything to fix the problem either, its not exclusive to vista so I dont think a vista fix will change anything. This problem has existed for years now with no fix. Very annoying (Nearly as annoying as ppl complaining about the same thing in multiple threads haha)

Having said that my pc doesnt even let me select run as admin in the priviledge level section so I cant even try this.

I have emailed support in the hopes they can figure out a solution to this issue.

I do not believe it is tied to adminstrator launching as I run everything as admin and still see the problem.

This problem has existed for a while but only with certain games.

Vanguard Saga of heroes also would freak out, you would lose the ability to right click.  Left click and keyboard would still function... however all right clicks! Pooof.

Lineage 2 will instantly disable the mouse on your secondary machine(their guard program is obviously detecting it as a blocking action).

Its very likely that WAR and Vanguard would also be the core reason for the problem.

InputDirector doesnt run into the issue nor does Synergy.  However neither of them are "injecting" the command but must be using a different method to send the movements to the machine.  However Multiplicity is coded to inject, its not liked by many programs except for EQ2 and WOW.
