Movement around planet

First sorry if I'm putting this question in the wrong place.  I just started playing and I can't find instruction on how to move objects around a planet.  Ships are not a problem since they get the "move" command but things like missile platforms, factories, etc. that you buy that just appear around a planet.  Can they be moved around?  I noticed this when I created missile platforms but they were just spit out in the vacinity of the frigate factory.  I could not position them in the path of the attacking fleet as an example.  It would be nice to somehow select the item and drag it to where you'd like to position it.

Check that automatic placement is not enabled. That should be on the right of the central windwo of the UI.

Usually when you build defences your pointer becomes a green ring for placement, which can be placed anywhere within a certain space around a planet.

You can't move buildings around, but you can choose where to place them. The auto-place buildings toggle is a little 'infinity' symbol to the right of the central lower window, as pointed out by chainblue. If you want to reposition a building you would have to scrap it and then rebuild it.

Thanks! In the middle of playing another game and so far doing better. Did notice the little green circle for pointer and figured it out but looks like you have to get it right the first time since after that it can't be moved as stated by compartment.
